  1. It seems to me that displaying the player's completion rate (provided it's adjusted for being taken away to a tournament) on their profile would be a good idea. This is not the same as showing friend/enemy counts (as someone alluded to earlier), since a player's completion rate is within their own control; knowing that your completion rate is getting embarrassingly low might deter you from bailing.
  2. I like it that when you log on, your BBO$ balance is displayed for a few seconds (along with your masterpoints etc). But once that splash screen disappears, although it's still easy to check your masterpoints (just click the Masterpoints button), it's much more cumbersome to check your BBO$ balance ... you have to log in to BBO$ and all. I would like to suggest adding an easier way to check that balance ... one simple approach could be to add it to what you see when you click the Masterpoints button. Thanks, Doug
  3. →BBO HELP: one more question ... i switched over to the web based version a few months back, but one thing that i find frustrating is that if i log on invisible, and chat with a friend, often their responses don't come to the chat screen but go to "mail". This makes the conversation a lot more work than on the old version. Is this a new behaviour? I've only noticed it in the last week BBO HELP (Private): players that log in as invisible usually want to be online under the radar and not communicate with others →BBO HELP: and is there any way around it? BBO HELP (Private): no →BBO HELP: it would seem that once i chat to them, the barrier could be lifted for that session ... i'm a retired software programmer, and i'm pretty sure that wouldn't be rocket science to accomplish BBO HELP (Private): you could post this in the Forum Suggestions for the software →BBO HELP: ok, will do
  4. I fail to see much advantage to the "short club"; the only one (I imagine) is that 1♦ guarantees 4 of them. Sure, if you play the more mainstream "better minor", only 1 1♦ opening out of 20 will have only 3, so assuming 4 is only a small gamble. The flip side is that, especially playing inverted minors, you could get in real trouble raising pard's 1 club opener if they only have 2 of them. In short, assuming 3 clubs where there are only 2 seems more risky than assuming 4 diamonds when there are only 3.
  5. Has anyone said yet what the vulnerability is?
  6. Again, I'm new to the web version. In the old version I was (as dummy) used to seeing all 4 hands, and still prefer that. I understand this is not permitted on the web version, with the idea apparently being to prevent cheating. However, since someone who really wants to cheat can use the old downloaded version, this is sort of like outlawing guns to keep them away from criminals: a noble endeavour but perhaps a bit naive? Imposing new restrictions in the web version is not, in my opinion, the way to persuade users to shift to that version, and realistically this may keep me on the old version a while longer. And if I wanted to cheat, I would not be posting this right now!
  7. Thanks, Jack. Then an alternative suggestion would be to add a "select all" button to the chat window to facilitate the copying and pasting :)
  8. I have been using the downloaded BBO program for years, but a friend talked me into trying the web version, so I have been doing that for the last few days, and she has me almost convinced. But one feature I know I will miss is the ability to log all chat. I refer frequently to the chat log, and I don't understand why the option has been removed. I understand that I can do it manually, by selecting, copying and pasting, but that is a somewhat clunky process and I know that I will frequently forget to do it; the online version is certainly an improvement in most areas, but this is a step backward. I have made my living as a programmer, and there cannot be a technical reason why this is not possible. It would be such a simple feature to restore; it's hard for me to understand why the option is not offered.
