7NT possible but how to reach best contract?
PedroG replied to lulu747's topic in Novice and Beginner Forum
Hi All, I'm not sure how can the 3♣ response show a good hand probably a system problem, what can we bid when our opening hand is something like: xx AKQJxx - Jxxxx But IMHO the problem here is that both the opener and the responder have underbid, I do think that the opening bid of 1♥ is a underbid, you don't need much from partner toi have game, do you really want to rest in 1♥ when partner has : KJxx xx xxxx xxx or god forbids KQxx xx xxxx xxx So even if you don't like to open 2♣ with two-suiters I think this is one of the cases that I would have done it. -
Hi All, Why do the BBO CC show the meaning of each bid when you pass the mouse over the bid... it seems like a crib sheet and not fair to the opp's that don't use it... Since the bidder will have the opportunity to check the meaning of is bid before it's done and also of what partner bid means. I understand it has a teaching tool but can't see the propose of using it in regular tables. Is there any way to prevent opp's from using it? Pedro

Hi all, Great ideia will try to be there to participate :) Pedro aka PedroG

Hi There, Sure you can just have tryed it... You setup the table has teaching and then put GIB's on the open places and click on movie button, open and send the hand you want... Now just bought $1 GIB's for testing this out :( Pedro Gil

Hi There, If you create a Teaching table you can load the hands stored in a LIN file. Pedro

Hi, Also all the games you played are stored in your local hard drive, at least in the Windows version, not sure about Flash (since I've only used it CyberCafes) You can then use those files to make your analises. Pedro

Hi All, I have a issue with the list of player/users that are logged on to BBO... I usually have selected to show me my friends and all the start players, I do this because when I wanne KIB I usually choose start players :) And my friends to know who is online available to play or kib. So far everything OK, but sometimes I wish to filter all the players for a country let's say for instance "Portugal" and the problem is that my friends list is also filtered... Is there anyway for my list off friends all be displayed, no matter what filter is applyed? TY Pedro Gil

Hi All, What to say, BIL is the best place to be... I learned it all there and hope to still learn much more... How diferent is this places from "Crazy Main" where people can play and learn and still be friendly to their partner and opp's... Where Teacher, Graduates and Player learn to share the love they have for the game and share their expertises and ideias... ♥♥♥ WHAT A GREAT PLACE ♥♥♥ I have a debt to BIL that i try to always compensate using some of my free time to give to other what has been given to me... TY Maureen and everyone that share a bit of their time to make BIL the great place it is... ♥♥♥ Pedro Gil -
Hi All, This was the reason why I made this question: http://pedrobridge.axspace.com/MMHH/MentorMentee.html Thank you all that contributed... Pedro Gil

Hi All, This is very interresting post and a real issue in BBO. I for long time thought about myself has Novice, and all the intermediate/advanced players would almost refuse to play with me... It was really hard to find a table with those player... and filling in a place in a table that I hosted was a real problem... Also playing against Other novices I would get complaint that I was underestitaming my skill level and was being unfair to them trying to find easy tables to play... Also if you mark yourself has Novice, you will get all sort of crap from opps and partner about your bidding, playing skill etc etc etc... Because you're Novice and they Adv even if they know the same or even less than you... Sure thing that staying in the BIL is the best option on this scenarios and where I founf friends and great players to play with and against... Pedro

Ty :) all Very interresting the Game tries, since it's not referred in the paper published by the ACBL... What I decide to put on my notes on this situation is the wording like ([NO agreement in SAYC ]) and we play it this way... So it would be something like 1M-2M-3x Help suit game try [NO agreement in SAYC] From different wording Slam Bidding: Roman Key Card Blackwood (RKCB 1430) [NON-SAYC agreement] In one I'm deviating from SAYC in the other I'm making a agreement that doesn't exist on SAYC, perhaps if playing sayc all we can do is PASS after 1M-2M :) ... Pedro

Well trolls apart... I think SAYC is a good way for you to seat at a table with a pickup partner and have a bunch of agreements out-of-the-box... So if you have a more steady partnership but have some "constraint" to use SAYC and add a few gadgets, I think it's fair to announce that you are playing SAYC and will alert any deviation from the system you will do... That it's much better than saying nothing at all or saying I'm playing "PGPR system", will that be beneficial to my opp's ? If I recall well you have in the top of your CC that basic fact what flavor is you bidding system and the color schemas also help identify that, it doesn't mean that all the Green cards will be equal, but gives the opp's a general feeling of what they are against. Offcourse that you will have full notes of your deviations from SAYC in you CC or in a note pages... Pedro

Hi all, Let assume that you have a constraint to use SAYC but that you agree with your partner do add few (not really a big list) of gadgets... What do you think would be the ones that you will benefit more... What areas of the SAYC paper http://web2.acbl.org/documentlibrary/play/...gle%20pages.pdf Are not fully explicit and you would like to sit down with your partner and clarify. Ty all Pedro
