  1. My partner opened 1♦ and RHO overcalled 1NT. My hand was: ♠ - K8752 ♥ - AT97 ♦ - 7 ♣ - 865 I did not feel I was strong enough to bid 2♠ with only 7 HCP; besides, this bid would ignore the 4 card heart suit. Double would be for penalty. I passed, and RHO made 1NT. At the other table, they made 3♥ our way. How can I show my partner what I have in the majors?
  2. Whether a person chooses to believe or not believe in the religion in their heart is a matter of choice which no one can force upon them. My parents can teach me 24/7 about Christianity, but it is ultimately my decision and mine alone whether or not I will accept Jesus Christ into my heart as my personal savior. They can force me to learn scripture and listen to sermons, etc., but how can you force someone to really believe something. By the way, I DO believe.
  3. Since Puppet Stayman is used to ask the 1NT opener if he has a 5 card major, how does responder deny a 4 card major after opener denies a 5 card major. Partner opens 1NT and you hold ♠x/♥Kxx/♦Axxxx/♣Kxxx. If partner holds 5 hearts, your hand is great for 4♥. So you bid 2♣ to find out. Partner rebids 2♦, denying a 5 card major. What does responder bid now? 2♥ would show 4 spades, 2♠ would show 4 hearts, and 2NT would show 4 of both majors. What can responder bid to show that he never had a 4 card major, but was only looking for a 5-3 fit?
  4. I hosted an Indy tournament tonight as a playing TD. Since I was planning to play I made the description very clear that only those with good connections should register, they should plan to stay for the whole tourney, and NO SLOW PLAY. Since I was playing, I was not able to go to other tables during the game. I did however keep an eye on all the tables and subbed all "red" players as needed. After I completed all the rounds I discovered two tables that had been stuck on board #1 for the entire time. People were waiting for their results. I did not know what to do, so I canceled the tourney and there wound up being no results. It was as if the tourney never took place. I feel terribly for the people who wasted their time. Was there something else I should have done or could have done? Should I have given adjusted scores to these stuck players for all 10 boards? If so, how would I have known who gets ave+ and who gets ave- ? There are not many free indy's in the evening, and I thought this would be fun to do. I don't see the fun in just hosting; that is why I wanted to play. It was not fun at all.
  5. If I open 2♦ Flannery, should my partner have 11(invitational) or 15(game force) to respond 2NT?
