  1. Hello, can you help us assign the blame. xxx,x,AKxxx,AKxx You open 1D in 3rd seat; 1D (1S) 2C (P) Do you bid some number of clubs or make a cue raise?
  2. Obviously not but excessive psyching is not the problem. A growing number of players and TD's believe psyches must be banned completely and will also decide on whim, what a psyche looks like.
  3. If XX can be penalty or asking for another bid then my partner is under pressure to make the right choice. Lacking expert hand evaluation skills we try to define doubles and redoubles as one or the other although this is creating its own set of problems, bridge hands dont fit nicely into just one category. We have started to remove the contraints on our X's and expect take a few bottoms while we improve our hand evaluations skills.
  4. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sa9hakt732dqt5c74&s=sj8hq4dak8642caqj]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - Pass 1♦ 1♠ 2♥ Dbl 3♦ Pass 3♠ Pass 4♥ Pass Pass Pass
  5. Like it or lump it we were not playing negative free bids, opps double was "support". 2♠ for us would show a good hand with hearts. If you are using it as forcing bid, good hand how would you show a hand with heart support? Redouble we havent discussed, could be best use here.
  6. Dealer: East Vul: NS Scoring: IMP ♠ J8 ♥ Q4 ♦ AK8642 ♣ AQJ West North East South - - Pass 1♦ 1♠ 2♥ Dbl 3♦ Pass 3♠ Pass 4♥ Pass Pass Pass Here I am as south, we are not playing NFB. Comments on the bidding please.
  7. (P) P (P) 1♦ (P) 1N (P) P (2♣) X (P) P (P) 1♦ (P) 1N (P) P (2♣) P (P) X Doubles are causing a lot of headaches, penalty or take out?
  8. 1♠ (X) 2♦ Playing 2/1 is 2♦ weak, strong, forcing. non forcing? , what is it in SAYC too?
  9. I know NS held up the play because I was at the table. In cases where I have no information other than one players word against another’s I will first see if an outcome is obvious, usually <3-4 tricks remaining otherwise I will make the adjustment using an artificial adjusted score. I agree the bridge laws do not fit ideally to the online world but nor do they to live play. This is where a TDs knowledge, judgement and common sense must be applied. The problem is not restricted to online play. In real life, some TD’s do make actual score adjustments to unfinished boards where the result is obvious.
  10. You are runing games on BBO and your policy is to give unfinished boards an actual result when at all possible. NS held up the play and the board was unfinished in the time allowed. It was adjusted to 4♠+1 and EW objected, wanting +2 and their rationale; ‘ I just think the non offenders deserve benefit of doubt on something like that; it was irrational when he didn’t play King earlier and I always give the benefit of the tricks to the team that was fouled...which is what ACBL suggests is fair.” Do you adjust +1, +2 or award an artificial adjusted score A+ for no’s, is there any doubt?
