  1. East covers the second club and then you have to unblock clubs and ruff out the 7 before you can pitch a ♠ on the last one. Your ♠ A is gone, and also ♥ K, if you play K and small to J.
  2. Thanks! This feels like a everyday kind of hand, and one that I felt I missplayed badly at the table. I played the Q trick one, which I think is really bad: The lead could be singleton, if I play for the king to be onside, then I would still need West to have Jack singleton to pick up all the clubs, and if I play for clubs to be Kxx Jx, I can play a club to the queen later, and not risk a ruff now. Playing the A also have the bonus effect of picking up singleton K (or J I guess) with West, as in this case. When ♥s are 3-2 with Qx onside, you get 13 tricks on this layout. Follow up question: After losing trick 1 to the K, and winning the ♠ J return with the king, should I: 1) Assume that some tables will get a trump or ♦ lead, and will play hearts as above and lose one club trick. Therefore I should play for ♣ to be J75 - K3 and play ♥ the same way, and get 12 tricks. 2) Assume that clubs are 4-1 and that someone are in the same situation as me, and try to beat those by playing for W to have Qx in hearts, and then play small to J and the A, as I no longer have have enough entries to set up a club for ♠ pitch if I play ♥ K first. At the table I lost to the K, and played ♥ K and ♥ to J and another ♥. Clubs were 4-1. 11 tricks. Ugh.

  4. The Idiots and Dogville, both by Lars von Trier - Great acting, two of the best movie endings I have ever seen. Full Metal Jacket - Just a SOLID piece of movie making, real mastercraft from the director, Stanley Kubrick. Contains on of the most grueful scenes ever (and that without any blood being spoiled). Watch it, and make love, not war. (and be sure to see A Clockwork Orange from the same director) The Fountain - A little bit cheesy sometimes, but I dig the message in the film. Visuals are done by filming chemical reactions, not CGI (at least almost all of it). Contains one of the most beautiful scenes ever, and epic music that gives you goosebumps all over. And forgot, Space Jam, one of the best movies ever!
  5. I agree with 655321
  6. Table tennis not popular? You must mean in Europe, Gerben. I think the Table Tennis World Championships is the third or fourth biggest sport event. And, yeah it is fun to watch, looks almost unreal at times.
  7. I would pass now, our hand has become a little worse since we last bid (and we have almost a minimum hand for our 2♣), also it sounds like we have a misfit. I don't think it is very close, but could probably be argued into that it is. The last question is more unclear for me, but I think I would have taken it as card showing.
  8. I would have opened this hand in a basic 2/1 system with my partner, but when I passed double seems like a clear action. Agree with the others, just too many ways for it to work out.
  9. I would bid game, and also agree with the previous bidding.
  10. The age requirement varies from sport to sport, anyway the olympics have been a great watch so far. And here in Norway NRK which cover the olympics have two TV channels and five extra streaming channels on their website, all free. Good stuff.
  11. MP pairs, non vul, sitting North you hold this collection: ♠K2 ♥T ♦K9876532 ♣KJ Your partner is dealer and passes, and West opens 4♥, do you bid 5♦?
  12. I love those kinda plays, playing from x's up to Kx Qx etc, and have managed to pull them of a few times, and stuff like "setting" up your worst suit. You should read The Other Side Of Bridge by Victor Mollo for more of thos kinda stuff (not specifically MP's oriented), probably my favourite bridge book.
  13. 3♠ this round for me, agree with Roland.
