  1. Well, everyone in Singapore was glued to the semi-finals and finals of the women's table tennis, since it is our first medal since 48 years ago. Though truth to be told, it was more of China A vs China B in the finals.
  2. I would be interested to see how Polish and Precision theoretically performs at MPs. From practice, I am not really keen on playing Polish at MPs, since it doesn't really seem to perform that well for me. But then again, I haven't had much chance to get a partner to play it, and locally I know only of one other pair which plays Polish and they usually only appear on BBO... I do know of a few pairs playing Precision at MPs at my local club. Have you considered interference over Polish Club as well? Also, I've heard some views that interference over a strong club is "not that significant" (I am personally skeptical.) , maybe this could be investigated further?
  3. I agree with you. 5♣ now shouldn't be exclusion, and it should be showing the void. And yes, you want to know p's heart holding :)
  4. I would think any 4441 is a three-suiter.
  5. JT, refer to my other thread some time ago about some other TD who kept whining to me even though my tourney was schedule to end before his and I was running IMPs and his tourney was MPs. I think you are being very unfair to some of us, who do not have regular enough schedules to fit a dedicated slot on a weekly/daily basis. Note that not all of us play in the tourneys we direct and we do maintain our own blacklists too. I would like to think that those with TD hosting rights have their own free will to schedule a tournament as and when they want. (Barring harassment issues as above-mentioned.)
  6. I would bid 2♣, but I can see how 3♣ works, and I don't think you need to alert it.
  7. That works, and would probably be ideal.
  8. Good to see that at least someone is teaching the kids right in slam bidding! I am somewhat confused. According to what I found on ACBL's website: http://www.acbl.org/play/zeroTolerance.html, it does not appear that psychs have anything to do with Zero Tolerance? Is this a case of something being abused/misused? (much like Blackwood?) Or is everyone talking about some other Zero Tolerance that I am unaware of?
  9. I'm not really convinced by 4♣, but I guess now 5♣ with 1 more push should be best.
  10. Two people I know tried it before. They ended up with pen and paper beside them while they were playing.
  11. I was playing pairs at my local club last night, and I found myself in a 3NT contract which looked like it depended on clubs breaking 3-3. I pulled off the squeeze playing RHO for 4 clubs and 4 hearts which seemed very likely, and this was a shared top since 4 tables went down in 3NT and only one other table made it. (Yes I know, 6 tables is a small game by normal standards.) Next board, I found myself in 3DX after a competitive auction, and I went down 1 because....I forgot my last spade was good and I ruffed it away. From a top to a bottom. And to think I was originally happy because this is the first time I've ever successfully pulled of a squeeze to make a contract. (Previous time was for an overtrick, and at IMPs scoring.) Moral of the story: If you want to pull off a squeeze, be sure that you can declare non squeeze lines properly first.
  12. I'll probably think a bit, and lead a ♠.
  13. I would tend to believe 1 in 30 rather than 1 in 6. If it's 1 in 6, I've never ever seen such good odds on the hand records from my local club's duplicating machine.
  14. http://angst.queerquiche.org/bridge/bbo%20bug.JPG Note the missing cards in W, S and E hands.
  15. Interestingly the star that I was kibbing bid 2♥.
  16. Hand seems too weak for a 4NT even in balancing seat.
  17. Try the BBOFlash Bugs and Suggestions Thread :)
  18. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sk5haq7dakj8764c3]133|100|Scoring: IMP You are South. Bidding goes 3 passes to you.[/hv] After you open 1♦, partner responds 1♠. how would you rebid this?
  19. [hv=d=e&v=b&s=saqhak53dakt9875c]133|100|Scoring: IMP You are dealer and you pick up this hand.[/hv] Would you open 2C? If you do, partner bids 2D. What would you bid now? How would your choice of action be different if LHO doubles and partner and both RHO pass it back to you?
  20. I'd agree with pass and 3S, but I wonder will partner now think I am asking him for a spade stop to play 3N? (Not that it might not work, but he will probably have a different idea of my hand if he thinks that way?)
