  1. 3NT no need to give ops more info
  2. Playing sayc I'd bid a direct 3h limit raise I don't like the distribution of the hand but I do want to show my values.
  3. What's the vulnerability? I like my king of spades and AK diamonds much more for defense since parter has already shown both majors. I think I'll be the lone doubler esp white v red and red v red - I don't want to see dummy drop with something like Q10xx Axx QJxx Ax after I bid 3♥ and my lho doubles me.
  4. I play 2/1 so I would bid a forcing 1nt followed by limit raise in hearts. My partners generally take me for much less when I bid 2♥ directly, and I don't like my crummy spade suit with a known fit. If partner had opened a minor I would have bid 1 spade without question though:)
  5. we all have our own opinions I'm going for 3c because i want to get in and get out
  6. i usualy play any overcall as 10+ this one is nice enough for 2c or 3c imo.
  7. both equally rediculous - and funny- in the world of SAYC First one makes no sense - he should bid 3c to show his strength, when partner gives him a completely non forcing 2d signoff he leaps to game in partner's possible 4 card suit. I voted for the second one just because they ended on the right side and it made me laugh. Though, the second one I can sort-of understand - every time I've opened 1nt with "aces and spaces" I've been left in 1nt...set 3. This doesn't keep me from opening 1nt though but I can understand where for some it might.
  8. You might want to bid 3♣ over 1s as your hand is shaped preemptively. In the world of overcalls and preempts - bid as much as you can as quick as you can.
  9. Okay I get it now it's just us bidding. Its not technicaly forcing (to my knowledge) in 2/1 or sayc unless you play wjs. You have already promised 18-19 hcp and at least 2 cards in partner's suit with your 2nt bid...if partner has 6 he has enough info to go to game over your 2nt. It's either a slam try showing a good 6 card suit or a sign off bid. I'm generally optimistic so I always raise to 4 in this situation just to see what happens.
  10. maybe im miss reading this but something like 1h-1s-2nt-3s? why would 3s be forcing? 1s is overcall, so i would just think 3s is preemptive. are you saying something like 1h-1s-2nt-pass-3s? if this is the case then yes forcing.
  11. I'm Angela. If you can't tell I'm from Ohio. Go BUCKEYES! I've played bridge off and on since I was 18. I'm pretty much a self-taught-online-seat-of- the-pants player. I started playing at www.playsite.com where I was ravengirl80 or alegna18, so if any of you played there nice to see you! I've played in a few tourneys, but with school (full time student) and work (full time job) I don't get much time to go. Its nice to see that other young people are here, finally I'm not the youngest!
  12. I generally don't believe in forcing pass unless you have discussed the situation with your partner. I think your hand should double. Give your partner a hand like xxx KQJxx xx xxx and even 4♠ might have problems.
  13. pass. You don't have any feature except your 4th spade, and 0 defensive strength so let them play diamonds. Your partner already decided to pass that should be a clue that hes got crap too.
  14. Bidding for me would probably go 1♥ - 2♦ - 3♦ - 3♥ - 4s - 4NT - 5♠ - 6NT 2♦ forces game 3♦ agrees diamonds 3♥ says never mind diamonds I like hearts 4♠ says i have 1st round in spades 4NT RKCB 6NT - I have these nice two spades you must have something nice in clubs lets play here
  15. There's one rule to follow here. Never Pre-empt a preempt. If RHO opens a weak 2h and you have a weak 2 in spades its better to pass and hope partner can come in than to bid 2s. Partner will think you have much more than a preempt if you do.
  16. I'm passing. The reward for them going -1 or even -2 isn't worth giving them a doubled slam. I can just smell a 7-4 hand or a 7-5 hand with declarer with a void in spades or diamonds or both. If I can't count on both of my aces cashing there's no way I'm doubling.
  17. 2c for me - i don't want to show a doubleton spade by bidding 1nt, rather show my 2nd suit
  18. I picked thie first one....though i'd prefer to be white. I tend to bid michaels with 0 hcp so i'm kinda happy with just the kq:)
  19. if it was white vs red i would raise but red/white or all red i'll pass
  20. over 1minor 3h or 3s is a splinter wjs over 1minor is 2h/2s 1c-3d is also splinter more info on splinters http://homepage.mac.com/bridgeguys//Conven...s/Splinter.html
  21. I think a little clairification is needed for your #1 example: any 2/1 bid over a major is a full game force IF opener is not in 3rd or 4th seat and if ops do not interfere between opener and responder with either a double or a bid. This is true for both hardy and lawrence styles wtih the exception of 1major with responder rebidding. I believe the "soft" game force would only be in 2/1 over 1d for lawrence style.
  22. http://www.prairienet.org/bridge/2over1.htm This site has some very interesting tips for playing many systems. It recommends you ask your partner if he is playing hardy or lawrence style, and to ask about this sequence and 1d-2c whether this is game forcing as well.
  23. Unless you have specifically discussed this kind of auction before with your partner I think it is non-forcing.
