  1. Yeah, I saw that thread, I admit I would pass that one (5C is tempting, but pard will not play me to be this weak in terms of high cards) I may change my mind, but will discuss with partner Anyway, the problem at hand is a little different, I saw/heard something interesting at the table, so I wanted to post the hand here
  2. 2nd seat favorable A9xx x A QT9xxxxx (spots approximated, it's about right) RHO opens 2H, do you act, if so, with what?
  3. I play it. I think traditionally it shows 54 majors invitational, but it's not a big deal to make it signoff.
  4. Partner has a huge hand, should be ~18+ for this stunt, I have a stiff club, my hearts will help fill in his suit. I would move, but I don't know with what.
  5. Yes, support (skip the minor showing)
  6. Just wondering, how many of you here are poker players?
  7. By the way, really appreciate these types of posts, thanks Hannie

Take pictures at the party and post please!
  9. Part 1: I think I lead low to the 8... Leading low to the T wins when RHO has the stiff 9, but leading low to the 8 wins when RHO has stiff K or Q, so 2 chances to 1 (I think.) Edit: Saw Ken's post, I feel stupid now Part 2: If I have only one entry, I will cash the CA and lead another. Wins whenever clubs are 2-2, or 3-1 with a stiff honor. Part 3: Iono.
  10. Um, I believe NMF is defined to be in the following sequence... 1m - 1M 1N - *NMF* In your other auction, I would call it a FSF...
  11. 1S is normal, your plan is to establish a game force and set hearts as trump (unless something better comes along)
  12. Bidding 2NT on no values whenever no fit is available to "rescue" partner. Feeling obligated to play the hand whenever you have opened. (ex opening 1N opposite a silent partner and then bidding and bidding) Failing to signal/pick up on attitude. Forgetting to evaluate/devalue shortness. Not paying attention to the auction when defending a hand.
  13. That's how I play it, learned it from Pavlicek's website.
  14. Oh I failed to see the extra trump in dummy. Don't ask me how you play 5 cards opposite 4.
  15. ? Is this the final heart lead? Assuming it is, you can induce the opponents to break diamonds (do not ruff the heart), which allows you to pick up a trick you can't get otherwise if LHO has the Q but not the ace. If not, I don't really know what to do other than lead up to DK and cross your fingers.
  16. second seat favorable, you hold x AJxx AKTx AJ9x (1S) - x - (4S) - p p - ? Do you double?
  17. In answer to the original title "What went wrong?" I would answer 4NT. Everything else looks normal, you'd reach a normal spot absent the 4NT bid...
  18. Okay, now I don't feel so bad about my 3NT. At least we deflected a spade lead and I took 12 tricks in NT... (I should check the score and see what other people did)
  19. [hv=d=s&n=sqxxxhxdxxxcak8xx&s=sxhaxdakqxxxcq9xx]133|200|[/hv]
  20. omg balance, this is not a question, I would try 2S (Mike Lawrence says that clubs are the dangerous suit!) Edit: Meant to say that I think balancing is clear, not that it is clear what to balance with
