  1. I have a lot of nice bridge software bought some or maybe quite a long time ago in bridgebase online shop, like "counting at bridge" "private lessons" by Mike Lawrence, but they won't run in the newer Windows versions, even when trying the compatability mode. Is there any chance that the programs could be updated or does anybody have alternative ideas how I could still run them? Regards Marianne
  2. Thank you Rain. I just changed the language and now it's all back to normal :-). Regards Marianne
  3. I have just installed BBO on my new computer. And since I am in Denmark the program has been installed with partly danish language. When I am on BBO I almost exclusively communicate in english and the danish announcements bother me. Can I change it back to all english? Regards Marianne
  4. Thanks for all the comments. I'll let my partner know :) But next question.... what would I bid if he had doubled? 2 ♠ doesn't seem to be such a great contract.... Marianne
  5. [hv=d=n&v=n&n=sak864h8dkqj3ck97&w=sj752hq965d84cq54&e=sqthakj72d962cajt&s=s93ht43dat75c8632]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1♠(2♥)P P 3♦ P ? Must I (South) bid or can I pass? Marianne
  6. When playing fourth suit, which do you prefer? Forcing for one round only or forcing to game? And why prefer one to the other? Regards Marianne B)
  7. Does anybody know of a simple rime, letter combination or something that could help me remember to think of all the things I should think of before playing a hand? Particularly if I am excited or nervous I tend to forget to think B) Regards Marianne
  8. Weak (12-14) or strong (15-17) NT, which do you prefer? I have the impression that weak NT mostly is played with Acol, but will it work as well with a 5 card major system? Regards Marianne
  9. I have been discussing system with a potential new f2f partner and thought it obvious that we should play splinter. But he doesn't like it, since he thinks it is essential to know whether I have a singleton or a void. He then mentioned that you could use the response of 3 NT to show an unknown void. Is this generally accepted? And how should you bid after the 3 NT? Marianne
  10. I am going to format my harddisk. I wonder if I will lose some of my BBO preferences, most important my friends/enemies list. I have found the chat file on my computer, but wonder if the above mentioned list is located on my own harddisk too? Marianne
  11. So now I have found the editor under "settings" and I have included some conventions from the BBO advanced in the BBO merged, which I think is closest to what I want. Then I read about the copy paste thing and I tried to copy inverted minors from one to the other. I opened BBO advanced, editor, pressed 1 ♦ and 2♦ and pressed copy... Then I opened BBO merged, editor, pressed 1 ♦ and paste... then nothing happened for a while and then came an error message from internet explorer... I must be doing this just the wrong way. Also the convention card I did manage to create, was saved and I was asked to name it, which I did, but..... When I press the green conv button it is still named BBO merged, though I can find it under the right name in the file under Bridge Base Online/convcard... Marianne B) :( ;)
  12. Is there any place where I can find an easily understandable way I can make the new convention card show the conventions a.s.o that my p and I play? I can see that there are standard cards and I guess I should start with the one that is closest and then adjust it to fit.. Is this right and if so, how would I go about it? Marianne
  13. I am not sure this is the right place to post this, but... After I upgraded to the latest version, the "they-we" is turned round so that "they" show our result and "we" theirs. That can be okay at times, but not always :-) Marianne
  14. I am an intermediate player, not good at counting. But I know the basic principles of a simple squeeze and sometimes it is really very easy and worth a try, even if you are not quite sure who guards what. And it is a thrill when it works  Marianne
