  1. What are the reasons why leading Q10xx is better than Kxxx against 1NT ? (Playing matchpoint if that's relevant regarding the lead in this case)
  2. Hello Everyone. I would like to ask you guys what is the correct play at trick 2 on that board. Playing matchpoint, you hold : ♠ 7642 ♥ 843 ♦ K83 ♣ AJ2 Lefty opens 1NT(15 -17) and gets to play there. Your partner leads the ♣3 (4th best) and dummy comes with ♠ A1098 ♥ J97 ♦ 76 ♣ Q976 Dummy plays low, you play the Jack and declarer plays the 8. What now ?
  3. [hv=d=n&v=n&n=sakj5432hk2da5ck2&w=shaq765dq432c10987&e=sq6hj1098dj98cqj65&s=s10987h43dk1076ca43]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Playing without screen the bidding goes : 2♣ [strong] Pass 2♦ 2♠ X [here the dbl is alerted by south as take out] Pass 3nt pass 4♠ pass 5♦ Pass 5♠ pass 6♠ all pass . just made, the director is calle dand explained everything ... what should he do ?
  4. Sadek and el ahmadi are not playing either, and I think, are world class.
  5. Well, my only advice, don't dbl if you have discuss that with your partner :D.% I personally play it as penalty.
  6. I really dont think that opening these hands or not does really matter on the long run, just play what you like and be in the same wavelengh as your partner .
  7. hum, to me 3♦ should show 6 cards with very rare exceptions, and on case where is it only 5 I dont think I would rebid 3nt well, maybe 3154 but, still, I dont think I bit 3♦ with many of this hands
  8. Yes, I play the jack as well. Maybe the good card is low but I have to try the jack :) .
  9. well, what would be the diff between 5 and 6 ♣ ?
  10. we play 1 - 1 3nt as fit showing not 1 - 2 3nt :)
  11. French way would be : 1♥ - 2♣ 3NT (18-19) ..... and now ... tuff decision, maybe you can try 4♣ knowing part denied 4♦ or 4♠ but he also denied 4♣ so ... well ... make a choice and live with it :) ps : no way to end up playing 6♥
  12. I agree . I like all of your bids. About fluffy's sugestion on bidding 4♣, I like it, but to my partnership 4♣ would be unfortunately natural.
  13. This is not really the point I wanted to talk about but, we play, as most french :D : 1♦ 1♥ 3NT = Balanced hand with 4♥ 1♦ 1♥ 4♥ = Unbalanced hand with 4♥ showing 5 ♦ 1♦ 1♥ 4♦ = 4♥ And 6 strong ♦ (at least AKQxxx) . Once again, I am not saying that this is best, just that this is what we play, and what we have been though from the very begining :)
  14. LEt's call it the French Junior style then :D
  15. Well, ok ok ... ♥ was the good lead :D
  16. Well .... you play what you'v been tought, and I am French. French level is not that great internationaly I admit, but 100% of french people play this as a fit showing bid. I am not saying it is better, far from it. But, well, I polosh will play p olish club, you can like it or not, he will always play polish club with an other polish. Same here with French.... Making fun of us should not be the point here.
  17. 4♦ being stronger than 5♦ here ? is that clear ? Or could it show a difference between a real fit and a semi one.
  18. ok ... so what do you bid ? Is 4♠ enough?
  19. I asked this specific question (against the weak no trump) to Boye broegland A month ago, he plays : Dbl is penalty and pass is forcing. It can be very dangerous to pass forcing, but he lives with it. And I like this way. Most of the time when people run from 1ntX you will not go down a lot playing a partscore.
  20. Ok, now there is the trick, We play 1♣ 1♥ 3NT as a fit bid.
  21. [hv=s=sa6hak9852d64c964]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Partner deal and it goes : 1♦ 1♥ 2♠ 3♥ 3♠ ... What do you bid ? 2♠ showed at least 5-4 with a game forcing hand. 3♠ , well, we had no agrement, does it show 5♠ or can it be with 4252 or 2153 with no ♣ stoper ? You tell me .
  22. Thank you, that is Right, I just realised that with 5 clubs we would probably bid 2 ♥ instead of 3NT.
