Hello Everyone. I would like to ask you guys what is the correct play at trick 2 on that board. Playing matchpoint, you hold : ♠ 7642 ♥ 843 ♦ K83 ♣ AJ2 Lefty opens 1NT(15 -17) and gets to play there. Your partner leads the ♣3 (4th best) and dummy comes with ♠ A1098 ♥ J97 ♦ 76 ♣ Q976 Dummy plays low, you play the Jack and declarer plays the 8. What now ?

I really dont think that opening these hands or not does really matter on the long run, just play what you like and be in the same wavelengh as your partner .
hum, to me 3♦ should show 6 cards with very rare exceptions, and on case where is it only 5 I dont think I would rebid 3nt well, maybe 3154 but, still, I dont think I bit 3♦ with many of this hands
French way would be : 1♥ - 2♣ 3NT (18-19) ..... and now ... tuff decision, maybe you can try 4♣ knowing part denied 4♦ or 4♠ but he also denied 4♣ so ... well ... make a choice and live with it :) ps : no way to end up playing 6♥
