Last night at my town club we play a nice individual (9 people, at 2 tables, howell i think). I finish the tourney in 4th place, the reason: THIS BOARD, played by my regular partener. hi, first of all 2♣ oppening is wrong, of course this hand has 9 triks.. but if you look again at system in front of 2♣ oppening is that: 2♣ = 23+HCP any distribution or 17+HCP and 9+winner triks, i am right? with this hand i open with 4♠!

Hi, I am Adi (adibichea) BIL member, hope to resolve this problem. 1. W hand, aprox. distribution .. the points are correct ♠Kx ♥Axxx ♦Axx ♣xxxx 11HCP, that shows DBL E hand, aprox distribution and points ♠xxx ♥xxx ♦x ♣AQxxxx 6HCP, showd in 3rd round. If E have 7♣'s with 6HCP, i am sure he bid 3♣ or even more. 2. after 3rd round, i play a small ♠ to J to test if ♠distribution is 2-3 or 3-2. if distribution is 4-1 or 1-4 i have no chance to make the contract. And i can't make the contract if ♣ is 5-5 even if trump are 3-2. Supose trump stay 3-2 or 2-3, and ♣ 4-6, or whateva, but not 5-5 After i win with J♠, i play a small ♦ to K to promote my ♦, now only losers is 1♠, 1♦ and 1♥. I don't play trump from my hand. exception: ruff. If W win with A♦ and play another ♣ (final club) I ruff it, and now play the ♦ to QJ of dummy hand (or finesse if E have void in ♦) ... and play diamond's to force E or W to ruff(final opposite trump). Hi, 1NT - (p) - 2♥ - (p) 2♠ - (p) - P - (3♣) P - (p) - 3♦ - (p) 3♠ - (p) - 4♠ it's clear, part has 3x♠, why? i like to belive, no one oppen NT with 2 doubletons .. with this distribution 2♠ - x♥ - 2♦ - x♣ so if my part have 3♦ is better to pass in fit 4-3, not to bid 3♠ in fit 5-2. I am right or not? then i bid 4♠, i have ♣Ax a nice color, ♥ doubleton, but bad ♦ ... so if i look again at the hand i pressume my part could lose 1 trick in each color, but where's my part. points? Hi, my intermediate opinion :unsure: With this hand i want my part to bid the game (have to force) 4♥. For small slam, my part should have ♠AQx ♥Ax or Qx ♦no matter ♣AK. This hand is possible to my part hand, or not? I like to try a slam verification. So .. i like this auction: 1NT - 2♦ 2♥ - 2♠! GF, 4x♠ and 5+x♥ and a nice hand. now here my part should bid his hand: - weak/strong, with/without 3x♥'s - weak/strong, with/without 4x♠'s etc.. even then i have room to bid 4♦ cuebid if my part have a strong hand with fit... or show 6x♥ .. or whatever i want to show .. or not :) ... and then should I decide, not my part (15(16) - 17(18) HCP hand), to try a slam or not.
