  1. Ace and another club - if clubs crap out i go for hearts. BTW - if LHO shows out of clubs on 2nd round then i play low all around (hoping LHO has the j).
  2. If 4d is 100% forcing then 4D otherwise - not sure, maybe a gambling 6 diamonds.
  3. Well - you can play RHO for Ajx of hearts. If true, then play a heart off board (rho plays low) and finesse 10 of hearts. Then play 9 of clubs - not ruffing. Assuming RHO wins this - there is no recourse (again - assuming Ajx of hearts). A spade ruff can be taken in dummy and a low heart played. A second club you can win and then pull trumps (no threat of club ruff if RHO has AJx).
  4. I think I will double. - I mean pass, and then double when it comes back around.
  5. 3H 3Clubs - to play (whatever you need to bid to get there) Pass
  6. I agree with 3♥, the possibly badly placed spade king notwithstanding.
  7. Partner had ♠x ♥AKxxx ♦Qxx ♣109xx I was thinking my bid must show some heart support - but based on the comments (except Ken's) I really overbid it. FYI - I was second seat (not 1st as I thought) non vulnerable. I hated bidding 2 spades with such awful spots. Yet - that did not stop me from bidding it at my second turn :P
  8. I don't know if I got it right or not. If so - I give it a 5, if not, something more than that based on the scale that is developing on this forum. About that scale. I remember reading something Bobby Wolf said, essentially, that most hands are pretty easy. It is the maybe 20% of hands (and maybe even 5% of hands) that separate the average from the good from the great players. So - all of these 7NT hands are really 9's or 10's based on the entire universe of hands that are played. I mean really, how many hands did you need to get through to come up with these?
  9. Thanks all. 2 hearts is pretty much the limit of the hand as they are divided 4-1 with RHO having QJxx if I remember right. I think 2 hearts or 2 clubs gets you there. And the opps cannot make 3 clubs. In full confession mode, I bid the embarrasing 2♠'s over the 1nt bid thinking the bidding would not end there and I would support heart's next. But, of couse, the bidding did end there - down 1 (Even more sadly, I can probably make it).
  10. I think the key is coming down to a 5 card ending Dummy ♠A ♥AK ♦Jx ♣- You ♠- ♥9XX ♦AQ ♣- LHO ♠- ♥QJ10? ♦Kx ♣- You pitch a diamond on the last spade and LHO is stuck. If diamond pitch, then diamond to A, else cash AK of hearts and diamond to hand winning last heart. I am playing LHO for 6 hearts to the qj or qT and of course the diamond k. So I will watch for H discards from LHO.
  11. You are dealt this (I forget vul) ♠Q76542 ♥865 ♦AK8 ♣10 Do you open 2 spades? If not, what do you bid after it goes: P (by you) - 1♣ - 1♥ - 1NT ?? thanks - My bidding was terrible - just looking to see how to approach this hand. Particularly if you do not open 2 spades (maybe that was the problem)
  12. I must be missing something - what lead sets 3 diamonds?
  13. Not 2nt. HanP's reasoning makes sense to me - so 1 club. But, mostly not 2nt.
