  1. 4♣, support with support. My hand is suit oriented. 5♣ is probably as good as 3NT on average, and we just might have a slam.
  2. Why would you add points for length when opening 1NT? Does this mean that: ♠ Ax ♥ xx ♦ AKxxxx ♣ Qx is a NT opener? I never make a call with 12 cards only.... B)
  3. I just bid 4♠. I don't like to give away anything when I "know" what to play.
  4. I started filling in at home at 8 or 9 (35-36 years ago). I've been playing in clubs since I was 12 and tournaments a year after that.
  5. I'm used to (14)15-17, and is very comfortable with that. I'm not at all comfortable with 12-14. Some 20+ years ago I tried out 7-12 NV (always some 4432) at MP with great success. In addition it was great fun! You're not allowed to play that anymore.
  6. Stayman and invite with 3♠ over 2♠, 2NT else.
  7. I think it's a mistake too, Denmark declining would be a surprise, Netherlands a sensation.
  8. The Brazilian federation has launched a website for this years Bermuda Bowl. The participants are listed, as far as they are known. There's a surprise regarding the European entries. The top five from last years European Team Championships in Pau are all there, but in place of 6th placed Netherlands, 8th placed Iceland is listed. If that's correct, Netherlands and Denmark both have declined to participate!
  9. Josh is correct. Law 23: Whenever, in the opinion of the Director, an offender could have been aware at the time of his irregularity that this could well damage the nonoffending side, he shall require the auction and play to continue (if not completed). When the play has been completed the Director awards an adjusted score if he considers the offending side has gained an advantage through the irregularity*. * as, for example, by partner’s enforced pass. The out of turn opener couldn't have been aware at the time of his irregularity that this could well damage the nonoffending side. On the contrary, it's heavily odds on that it would damage his own side to bar partner. Anyway, after 1♥x get passed around to the "psycher", why should he sit?
  10. Why is that? To me a 2♦ rebid would be absolutely obvious. And I play 2/1. (I did see the "not universal" part.) I know that many would rebid 2♠ on a 6-4 minimum, but the reasoning behind doing it on 5-4 eludes me.
  11. I'm used to raising to 3♦, showing 2-3 small.
  12. Yes, this is a clear 1♣ opening to me. I'd always open it, but especially since we're able to invite and stop in 2M if partner holds a major and invitational strength. And we agree on this opening style.
  13. Add me in the 2♣ wtp camp too. Over 2♥ I give preference with 3♦.
  14. btw, you are planning on raising 3♥ to 4♥? I like 4-3 fits, but not 4-2 fits... My partners don't rebid 3♥ on a 4-bagger here, it's either 6 or 5 good ones.
  15. I don't know why so many expect 3♠ to be GF here. Playing a normal version of FSF, I'd expect 3♠ to be invitational, and GF hands to bid 2♥. Anyway, that's standard where I play. I'd just raise to 4♠.

    Ruling?

Huh, in Norway we've had a program that could score like this for at least three years now I believe - probably longer.
  17. Yes... 2NT is probably better here. But even that is an underbid. You either open 2NT or rebid 3NT.
  18. 2NT vul with that hand isn't agressive, it's insane.... I'd bid 3♦, however, if I knew what partner was up to, I'd pass and let him declare this ***** himself.
  19. 2♠, planning to pass 3m or raise 2NT/3♥ to game (in the same strain).
  20. You've got ♠KQ yourself, MY partners might overcann 1♠ on a 4-bagger, but not with me holding KQ. AJ9x is a viable 1 level overcall. I don't think that's a good idea.
  21. You've got ♠KQ yourself, MY partners might overcall 1♠ on a 4-bagger, but not with me holding KQ. I'm bidding 1NT, but 2♠ might easily prove to be better.
