  1. I'd open this 1♠..... barely.
  2. Playing the methods in the OP I'd raise to 2♠. Playing with some of my regular partners I'd bid 2♦ (with one) or 2♥ (with another), both showing either a weak raise or a natural 2/1.
  3. Not me. I transferred with 2♥ playing my own gadget, else rebid 2♠. :P
  4. I'm not pessimistic - I was kind of sarcastic... If partner has a more or less normal double, we'll get a reasonable score defending.
  5. Two kings, two trumps and a potential ruffing value, easy raise.
  6. With a balanced minimum this is an easy pass. Happy to hold two defensive tricks - we might even beat it.
  7. I'd be reluctant to bid 5♣ with such a balanced hand and being a passed hand. Partner's preempts tend to be more widerange facing a passed hand.
  8. 2♠ for me playing standard methods. 2♥ transfer with my favourite methods, showing 2.5♠ or better.
  9. The first thing that strikes me here is that NOT making an opening trump lead looks like a bad idea.... As it is, I agree with gnasher's analysis, and continues diamonds.
  10. And no bid at all limited north's strength. And there was an obvious way for north to limit his/her hand, by avoiding bidding 3NT - which was pretty ridiculous with a minimum and horrible trumps.
  11. In most partnerships I play 2♣-2NT as showing a positive with 55m, and a direct 3m as a sound 6-card suit. Holding ♠JTx makes 2NT less obvious, but I think I'd respond 2NT anyway. Without the agreemens above I'd most probably respond 2♦.
  12. I'd not cuebid the ace partner knows I'm holding. A cue now should show a singelton, and 4♥ be a signoff. I'd prefer to be able to bid 3NT showing a spade singleton here. If that's not possilbe, I'd signoff with 4♥.
  13. Fast in, fast out... Easy 1♥ overcall. It might easily be our hand, and we need to get in early to be able to bid constructively. Or we can to mess up opps bidding if we hit partner with a preemptive raise.
  14. As mentioned by others, standard is that a balancing 2NT is strong. I play it as 19-21.
  15. With the methods mentioned, 4♣ seems perfect to me. 5-loser hand, concentrated vaules. The hand isn't in itself slamoriented. However if partner has the ♣K and a couple of aces....
  16. If opps are missing the ♦A, we might need to cash a diamond trick before it disappears (on clubs). And hope there's another defensive trick somewhere. If opps have the ♦A, we need to establish a trick before getting on lead later. The obvious place to set up a trick is spades. To me, the odds favour leading spades.
  17. 2♦ reverse. I'd never play the 3♦ gadget since it's definitely unsound and 3♦ as a minisplinter is much more useful.
  18. Strange screen position if west and south were on opposite sides. Guess the OP had the directions wrong. As a TD or AC I'd not change the score in these circumstances. If declarer isn't able to play a card in a position where it can be seen by an opponent on the other side of the screen, that's his own responsibility. Besides, as mentioned by others, who would be thinking with QJ tight?
  19. hmm, this hand would sign off in 4♠ over 4♥ IMO.
  20. That's the point: if they do bid 4♥, maybe pard has a stack over it  Can't be much of a stack, he didn't make a NV 1♥ overcall.
