  1. I'll go all the way and bid 5♣. I don't think anything less will inconvenience opps much.
  2. 6♠, the practical bid, what I believe we can make.
  3. 1♠ for me both times.
  4. I guess I might ask the question: would you consider opening 1NT with this hand? If so, then yes the 1NT overcall is definitely worth considering... Bill That doesn't follow. I'd most probably open this hand 1NT. But I'd never consider overcalling 1NT here.
  5. lol, are non-broke players supposed to make insufficient bids? lol, got the auction wrong. would pass anyway
  6. You did the correct thing, as explained by others above. If you hadn't raised to game and I had been called to the table by the (awake) opps, I'd have adjusted to 4♠♠-2.
  7. Facing an almost broke partner (couldn't overcall 1♠), bidding looks like suicide to me. -300 (or worse) is terrible even compared to a couple of overtricks in 1NT. Btw, the auction is very normal where I play. Very few play 1NT as forcing here. So I'd expect the auction to be the same in most of (the whole?) field.
  8. Agree 100% with gnasher above.
  9. Negative free bids are alertable in Norway. They're not very common here.
  10. That's because they might find a very good sac. I'd be much more inclined to bid a fitjump 4♣ than splinter 4♥.
  11. It's not as much a question of describing the hand best as to give yourself the best chance for a good result. 4♠ for me, shut out opps.
  12. Me too, not quite strong enough to GF with the second hand.
  13. I'd have doubled the first time and passed the second. At IMPs, 5♠ is a must now.
  14. What jurisdiction is it not allowed in? Might be mistaken, but I think the WBF has a rule that you can vary your system with regard to vulnerability. Nothing said about position.
  15. I've played variable NT according to position, not vulnerability. That makes more sense to me. But I don't think it's allowed these days.... maybe depending upon what jurisdiction you play in.
  16. You need something very special to upgrade an aceless 4333 14-count to 1NT. This is far from it. 1♣
  17. Depends on who I'm partnering. In a partnership where we agree to open any balanced 11-count, that's what I do.
  18. 1NT for me. I'd not like 1♣-1♦/♥-1♠-1NT.
  19. That's about how we defend Ekren's 2♦/♥ in Norway.
  20. Not for me. KJTxxx/AJTxxx is the minimum suit quality. That's why holding QT9 I can place partner with at least AK.
