How is matchpoints inferior? A 1 session imp pairs sounds like about the most random thing ever. To me a system where better pairs will score better more frequently is superior (aka matchpoints).

WBF is way worse than the ACBL IMO, and that's saying something.

It's now pretty clear to me that a large part of the reason bridge is dying is due to incompetent and greedy people leading our game (WBF, ACBL). I guess it's not surprising. Only took me ~12 years to figure out!

It is the (very big) exception that the 4-4 fit is better than the 5-4 fit. Always try to play the 5-4 fit unless you have an extremely concrete reason not to. Hands where the 4-4 fit are better are often written about because they are rare. Much like hands where you need to play a 4-3 fit in a slam etc.

If you are able to keycard via 4D or 4H and your partner shows 2 keycards your next bid should be to show the SK rather than ask for kings. Then you will have shown your whole hand minus what your 3 card suit is (which admittedly can sometimes be an issue). LOL example and all but QJxxx of spades and the minor suit aces = a grand. On the other hand partner can have both of the other kings and we still need a trick. Knowing how many kings partner has is not what we need to know, he will be much better placed if he knows we have 6 diamonds to the KQ, the HA, and the SAK. Example auction: 4H RKC, 2 5C w/o, 5S I have the SK.

RKC with a void is underrated, but you need your partner to have denied the ace in your void via cuebidding. Something like 1D 1S 1N 2D(art GF) 2H 3H 4D would be a great auction for south, he can keycard (his partner bypassed a club control), then ask for kings and opposite the DAK and HA and 4 hearts he can easily bid a grand.

You still have pretty decent play even if clubs are 4-1 and you play the CA. I don't think it's at all close at imps.

Totally depends on RHO, but if you are going to play the CA then dont play a diamond to the ace first, make your decision before then. And it is not about trying to "drop the king" necessarily, it is also about RHO having Kxx.

I am probably one of the worst at post morteming relative to how I play. I cannot even remember hands 10 minutes after I play them unless they are extraordinary or if someone tells me something about them... I also hate talking about bridge at tourneys. It doesn't matter, some people can remember everything about deals 50 years ago, don't be intimidated...everyone is different.
