  1. TylerE said "They are Baptists in the sense the Nazis were socialists. (Not that mainstream baptists are much better in terms of 20th - never mind 21st - century thinking)" (emphasis mine) That certainly seems to be anti-baptist. He then called them bigots and posted some articles about southern baptists.
  2. Haha yeah you have to be careful if any bid shows up as 26+ points or whatever you can't bid it or gib will bid 6 or 7.
  3. I believe at one point stars indicated that BBO recommends watching you. There are specific requirements for getting a star, but BBO does not have to give you one if you meet those requirements (and can take it away). I learned this distinction a long time ago when I was stripped of my star at one point for bad behavior :P
  4. Winning and playing a spade to the king seems like a normal way to start the play
  5. The hand that they opened 4D with shows that your pass is definitely right IMO. The more aggro the w/r 4D bidder is likely to be the better passing is. I totally agree with opening 4D with that hand FWIW, and I hate when my opps pass the X with hands like this :P
  6. I think the bidding was normal. As east you know you can get screwed either way (passing out 4H or bidding 4S r/w). It is a good hand to play intermediate jump overcalls, not that that means anything.
  7. Ducking one spade seems pretty clear, sorry pard if I had 13. After that cash 2 diamonds, cross to the HA and drive the diamond (if necessary), then try a club to the jack.
  8. I would X and don't find it to be close
  9. Thanks! I'm sure the ending was entertaining for the viewers lol. I did not know how close it got until I finished playing.
  10. 3S then double. I think the decision on the first round is more interesting than the decision on the second round.
  11. You are forgetting that you are more likely to be dealt 32 than stiff 3, even with empty spaces. One specific 2-3 break is more likely than one specific 1-4 break. Another way to look at it is that RHO is less likely to have the 2 for empty spaces reasons, he is known to have the 864 of diamonds.
  12. I know I have stronger feelings about this than almost anyone but I think it's nuts to play a style where you must rebid 2N with xx in spades. It's not like an opening 1N, you are extremely likely to get a spade lead with xx AQxx in the majors, so even though you gain sometimes by not leaking info most of the time you're simply going to play 3N from xx of spades on a spade lead. I like to play that you rebid 2D with 5+ diamonds and 2M denies 5+ diamonds* typically balanced anti positional or 4441. 2N is positional. So this would be a perfect 2H bid to me. *I reserve the right to not rebid a terrible 5 card diamond suit, sorry pard if that causes us to miss 6D but it also helps avoid some 6D that are lacking in the trump honor department.
  13. Yeah its not restricted choice since they will lead honestly.
  14. Even against good opps it depends what they think of you, if they don't think you are a high level declarer then I think good opps are always covering with Kx looking at QJ32, there is too much chance against a random opp/someone they don't know that the declarer plays for Kx not realizing they can pin T9 doubleton. You need a lot of conditions for it to be right to duck with Kx here. Your partner must falsecard routinely with T9x, the declarer must be smart enough to realize the situation and try to pin Tx/T9 doubleton when they have A9xx or A8xx, and even then you are losing when your partner has T98 third. Given that partner must have the T for this to matter, A98x is twice as likely as Axxx so you are gaining on 1 combo if you duck with Kx and all of those conditions are met. IRL I think I always cover with Kx looking at QJ32, and as declarer I never play them for Kx if they duck so I am your ideal opp to exploit :P
  15. Get well bro, BBF needs you. PRIORITIES!
  16. Won't help, president TRUMP will invade Canada and make it part of the states obv. #Winning
  17. It is quite uncommon here also fwiw, it is disproportionately played by some top players relative to our general population (Hamman, Bramley, Weinstein etc). Yes you should open it with 4-6 almost always (exception would be really good hearts where you don't mind missing a 4-4 spade fit). KI is even less common here, mickyb made some posts about KI+flannery being the nuts, but I think that KI solves a main issue that flannery solves, it seems to me like playing KI + weak 2D or w/e is a lot better than playing KI+flannery or flannery + no KI.
  18. Yeah for sure 2H weak with the majors is better than 2D, but I wouldn't want to have to play multi. Seems like having a bid for the majors is the nuts in general though.
  19. Is Wilkosz weak with both majors? That would def be my first choice. 2nd choice weak with diamonds(!!) edit: OK after googling looks like it's not weak with both majors.
  20. I'd easily rather be in 5D than a bashed 3N, don't think it's that close.
  21. I hate getting stolen from as much as anyone, especially red/white vs some shenanigan preempt but I think you just have to pass here. All the warning signs are there. That being said if partner has like 6 hearts and short clubs our hand can be good (esp if he has a spade honor, eg even Jxx Kxxxxx xxx x will probably make game on a stiff spade lead and he can have more than that obv). But the spades are offside/not splitting, if he has 5 hearts trumps are more likely than usual to be 4/1, we only have 3 hearts, 3 clubs to the ten is terrible, we have good defense against 3C after our trump lead etc.
