  1. I agreed with that 2♦ only shows a good hand with ♦ controls for now. It can't show fit with ♠ at the same time. 2♦ leaves more room to develop a proper contract. If 2♦ bidder has ♠ fit, after 2♦ he/she will surely have chance to bid it. After 2♦, 1♠ bidder is forced to bid NT if he/she has stoppers with both majors, otherwise, he can just bid 2♠ or even 3♠ (if a good ♠ suit is available). Since this 2♦ is forcing, 1♠ bidder has to describe his/her hand accordingly. I think, the rebid is 3C by your system, not 2D. If partner has more, he/she would bid 3D to ask for stopper for 3NT. Just my one cent. ;)
  2. System is one issue, but i think South shall take more blame if i am the one to assign. North did not bid 2NT, it usually shows an unblanced hand. With South's hand, i'd prefer 2♥, even 4♦ is ok. 3NT was not an option. Reason #1, how did South know there's no slam in ♦s given the useful ♦Q and 3 card support? #2, North may have 4 card Major if ♦ suit was only 5 cards. If North has no 4 card major, more likely 5♦ or even slam is approachable. Also, 3NT by South is the wrong position to play. BTW, those who talked about 1D or 2C opener did not consider South's hand at all. What if North had another ♥Q, isn't it a definite 2C opener? So South should still not bid 3NT.
  3. Yes, I think it's a clear pass. But I dont expect 3D to set 2 or more no matter pd dbl it or not. If pd had dead minimum, 3S is going to be risky.
  4. Interesting analysis. 2/3 of the 24 hands makes 4♠ with the assumption of pd had singleton Diamond. What if you make a new assumption that opponents had 8 diamonds? I'd love to see the outcome.
  5. I was one of the opponents played against HeartA for this hand. I vote for 3♠ (or 3♥ if there is a game try like this between them). If you have the following hand, will you bid 3♠ in the same sequence? ♠QJ10x, ♥AJ10, ♦xxx, ♣xxx I think it would be overbid for this hand to bid 3♠. So, it's easy to say that 3♠ bid is not competitive, it's clearly showing an invitational hand. I do not know why some people were arguing that the 4♠ was set was because of ♥ distribution of 1-5. Without the bad ♥ distribution, you will still need to finesse ♥Q right, which is 50% chance only. Since it still has 50% chance to make, 4♠ was not a very bad bid.
