I had to play this contract last night and I did very bad. My partner an expert player who sub because my p got disconect left after that.(which I agree too much for him to support.I understand that and Im ok with him leaving table). After tourney I looked at traveller and I saw that from total of 9 tables 3 failed 6h 3 failed 4h and 3 made 4h. The lead at my table was smal spade. Im very curios about how should be play? Whats the plan after seeing the hands? Thank you in advance for your advice best regards Jocdelevat
  4. Hello everyone I play basic SAYC and my level is beginner-intermediate. I had 2 boards where basic biding still confuse me. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sa3hj42dcakqj8654]133|100|Scoring: MP pass your bid[/hv] This hand has 9 tricks do you open 2c? I thought openning 2c witk 9 tricks is old fashion bridge.Do you recomend to open with 9 tricks 2c or just with 23hcp? [hv=d=e&v=n&s=sa3hj42dcakqj8654]133|100|Scoring: MP pass your bid[/hv] On this board I answer 1h to my parner openning 1c. He jumped to 3nt then told me that I should pass with 5 points(he had long clubs). Now I recognize that I do not have minimum for a response but can I pass with just 3 small clubs. I thought a minor openning in SAYC should not be pass if less than 4 or 5 cards support. Thank you in advance for your advice Best regards Jocdelevat
  5. I saw in a lot of tourneys that I played some players open weak 2 or 3 in first or second seat. My question: is there any reason to do that or is a BIL thing. IMO I think is very wrong to preempt not only opponents but your partner too. Thank you in advance for your advice best regards Jocdelevat
  6. [hv=s=s8653hj73dq43c1052]133|100|[/hv] Hi all I play basic SAYC. I had this hand and the auction was 1 ♠ pass 1[NT] double pass my bid? Opponents was in no vul we in vul scoring IMP. I do not know what double by my partner means penalty or take out. If was take out double what do you bid? Thank you in advance for your advice. Best regards Jocdelevat
  7. IMO an apology from polish player or a warning should be enough. I see as extreme action to take his/her star. My reasons for that: 1. polish player was rude in private chat not as bad as it in public 2.not all great players in any sport has good social skils or are good caracters 3.IMO happens sometimes to be in a bad mood or affected by an event that makes you overreact for simple mistake that you consider your friend or a stranger made. Best regards Jocdelevat
  8. Hello everyone I would like to have on my profile a box that describe not the level but the prefence what kind of bridge I wanna play in BBO. My suggestion is something like: serious bridge opose to for fun or social I often play bridge just to relax so if a partner wanna play serious bridge he/she will be very disapointed about my level or my mistakes. I said that because for me quality of bridge that I play depends on my mood or how tired or rest I"m. Best regards Jocdelevat P.S I don't mean to exclude the level box just to add a different box description.

Thank you in advance for your advice Best regards Jocdelevat
  10. My opinions about mbt: 1.It is great 2.seems to me that the robot plays most of the contracts of our side 3.seems to me the robot do not make finnese when is a must 4.luck is a major factor(sometime i got most of the hands our side won the contract other times I was looking at opss(the 2GIBS) playing. 5.from these options:1) declarer always declares 2) human always declares 3) robot always declarers 4) human decides who declares I choose 4 even I will prefer number 2 (whats the fun to let the robot play?) but time and money push you to be a manager. I prefer to play most of the hands but that wil result in a few boards so I will play just interesting once and let the robot play the boring ones plus all the hands reamaining if time run too fast and i played too slow.
  11. [hv=s=skqxxhkxxxdqxxckj]133|100|[/hv] Hello everyone I play basic SAYC . Im B/I Last night I played in a tourney. I had this hand. I was in third seat all pass before me and I open 1nt by mistake (miscount). We made 3nt and were top score 100%. I felt bad at the end and I couldn't wait for the table to change. I kibitz remaining tables and I saw other players open 1nt with that hand (not alerted as weak NT). My questions here: 1. how you call this type of bid? deviation, cheat, misleading 2.Is right for opponents to call TD for that? I ask these questions because I always got stuck on these borderline bids. Best regards, Jocdelevate

  13. Hi all I think this discussion went far enough and we should put a stop. My opinions: 1. Delete the whole thread discussion and forget about it 2. Call Dr. Phil and Judge Judy if #1 is not good enough:)) 3. BBO should have a disclaimer or a better policy Best regards Jocdelevat
  14. I will play for 3-3 hearts and 2-2 trumps so i take the lead with ace spade then play 9 heart and take with ace. play smal heart for ruff then play ace club and q ueen club for returning back to dummie. playing the reamaing hearts where I can discard the 2 spades and jack diamond. I thought more complicated ways but each one failed so i took the easy one.
  15. If you are not sure about a hand, it is better to post it in the advanced section, especially if you are intermediate: 1) It might actually be an advanced hand 2) You get more accurate/correct responses from the experts who lurk there. 3) Very few experts/advanced players respond to threads in the B/I forum. 4) It could be dangerous bridge to form conclusions based on discussions not involving even one expert. Luckily for us, the few experts who respond to the B/I threads seem to really care about explaining correct bridge clearly. Beginner and Intermediate Bridge Discussion For our novice to intermediate members to discuss issues and share advice (and for more skilled players to answer questions ;).
  16. [hv=d=w&v=n&w=saqj76hk72da53cq6&e=s9ha863dkqj72caj5]266|100|Scoring: IMP I open 1♠ pass 2♦your bid?[/hv]. Hello everyone I open 1 spade lho pass my p 2d. 2 questions i have here: 1.if I bid 3d here is the proper response or is a weak response? 2.What are advantages and disadvantges to open 1nt with 5 card major?(I think my hand better describe with 1nt but i do not open 1nt with 5 card major). I play BBO basic SAYC I'm beginner-intermediate and I goof often than play good. Last night with those hands I tried to reinvent the wheel. I open 1s my p 2d and I thought to force a 3nt with a 2h after my p 2d( imps tourney go Joc bid game) instead to go for the golden number 8 the normal bid 3d. The funy part is my pard intermediate either thought maybe I have 5 spades and 4 hearts and jump to 6H. I was shock but I knew that I started the chain reaction of mistakes and at the end I didn't corect his bid to at least 6nt or 7d. Thanks for advice in advance Best regards Jocdelevat
  17. Hi all I play SAYC(BBObasic SAYC) and my level is intermediate(beginner-intermediate). I red a post on "general bridge discusion" which pop up in mind a question. I saw some players put in their profiles "do not lead trump". Now my questions are: 1.when a trump lead is a good lead? 2.what can be the reason for avoiding a trump lead in all situations. What i learned is to lead trump: 1. when opener bid 2 suits and his p pass or weak response 2.the final contract is a weak bid. Thank you in advance for your advice Best regards Jocdelevat
  18. [hv=n=sxhakj10xxdjxckxxx&s=sakxxhdakqxxxcaxx]133|200|[/hv] Hello everyone I m intermediate player(sayc only) and i would like to have your opinion about strong jump shift. I do not use(the nice way to say) strong jump shift( I hate jumps in general and especially when our team has the points because I prefer slow but sure). I played in a tourney and my partner(North seat) open 1H. It was a non competitive auction oponenents pass all the way so our auction was: 1h 2d 2h 2s 3h 4c 5c 7nt. I recognize that my mind was under influence by my strong hand(usually for players as my level) and instead to think that 5c shows not such a strong hand and is an invitation to game only to stop in 5d (because my partner didn't asked even for aces) I bid that 7nt(Im sure the devil put me to do that lol) My partner was an advanced player and he sugested(in a polite way not rude at all) to me that I should have use strong jump shift or to learn a diferent system than sayc (not good enough). Now my questions are: are strong jump shift bids still a modern bridge biding tool?Is there anything else that I can substitute those strong jump shifts in a non competitive auction?do you take it as strong jump shift if you open and your random partner jump in his suit? The reasons that i don't like strong jump shift are: 1. takes a lot of biding pace 2. it happends many times to me to open and a random partner to jump in his suit then we missed a slam or got in a wrong nt contract. Thanks in advance for you comments and opinions. Best regards, Jocdelevat
  19. Thank you to all for your answers. Off topic: for csdenmark Thank you for spelling correction but I just copy and paste the story. Next time I will revise before publish. Best regards Jocdelevat
  20. Hi Im not a tourney director just a simple intermediate player but an online friend confuse me with his story bellow: "I agree with her tht all alerts must be made as per the ACBL chart. I personally had a harsh experience at the online Z league where we were playing a 2/1 and as per the ACBL rules NO ALERT IS TO BE MADE AFTER 3nt LEVEL BID. Before tht all conventions shd be alerted. But tht day I was in a slam contract when i responded to my ptners 4nt as 5c showing 0 or 3 keycards. When the oppts saw 2 aces in my hand along with K of the trump suit they called Director and asked the hand to be skipped. AND TO MY HORROR the TD of tht tournament who knows wht this bid means as well on my telling tht no alert was to be made asked me to skip the hand as my ptner had not alerted the 5C response. I was too sorry to say tht I didnt want to ruin my bridge by playing such biased tournament. SO please remember tht after 3nt BID THERE IS NO ALERT TO BE MADE. THey can ask about thebids but cant blame them forthose bids. Thanks all and hope we dont make such mistakes. " Is that true of what he saying? I tried to read the ACBL ALERT CHART and I find the chapter where it says something similar but not specify if is just normal blackwood or keycards too. I didn't understand either what delayed alerts are. I know here in BBO everyone alert the keycards. is that conform with ACBL ALERT CHART?
