What to play at trick 2
jocdelevat replied to Finch's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I will play club to ruff then ace trump follow by q trump. We need to ruff 3 times clubs to promote 10 so transport between hand a dummy could be a problem if we start with trump. -
Hi all I played in a ACBL (BBO) tourney. This is the board. [hv=d=s&v=e&n=saqt8hak32dkt2ck2&w=sj96hq74dj5c87543&e=s542hj6da4caqjt96&s=sk73ht985dq98763c]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - - Pass Pass 1♦ 2♣ Dbl 3♣ 4♣ 5♣ 5♦ Pass 5♥ Pass 6♥ Pass Pass Pass My pard query 4c which was a cue bid and opps reply cue bids not alertable. My pard call td for no explanation of the bid. I think I agree with opps in this case. TD asked opps to explain. Whats your opinion?

most of the times b/i players do not count so here maybe play ace then finesse one time and then play the king. happend to me a lot of times.

Use of Full Disclosure in ACBL tournaments
jocdelevat replied to hrothgar's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
So I see as a non sense to use FD if I still have to explain. It will be more like a memory help for partner. -

turn on or off kibitz by player
jocdelevat replied to jocdelevat's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Yes it is however could be consider an impose option to the other players who are not host of the table, tournament or team match. Maybe better to say allow or not your hand to be see by kibitzer. So players who are suspicious about kibitzers can hide their hand. -
My opinion is that kibitz should be turn on or off by player like in yahoo. Is it that possible? I do not know maybe someone already suggested however I saw a lot of posts about kibitzing so was just a thought.

We missed game. I was upset because my pard pass after my 2h however seems that my bid was wrong, I thought biding over a weak2 will not show a weak hand. I still do not understand the reason of my pard pass even my bid was wrong.

Hi My name is Florin Diamandi(38 yearss old) and Im from Romania and live In USA since 1996. My job is to mess up with computers and networks. My bbo id means playing tricks in my language. In my country I had play the oldbridge wih 2 bids strong. I learn SAYC 3 years ago playing rubber bridge in Yahoo leagues( more of social than bridge) where still play sometime because I have a lot of friends there. First time I played in bbo was a night mare when I saw all kind of systems and conventions with a lot of players experts and advanced. Now I enjoy BBO more than any other bridge online site. My level is beginner-intermediate-forever . I play for fun and relax however I do not like to loose.

Anyhow I should have thought about game vs penalty however is not for the first time when I mess up a strong hand. The beginner luck doesn't help a BIL player.

I don't understand why I lost imps when I made both contracts. I do not see better contracts for those hands. I thought major contract is better at imp than at mp. top contracts was for first 1nt-4 for second 3nt+2.

I count 11 tricks . I need one more trick. My plan is after take the diamond lead tu run clubs till pull out the ace the come back on diamond finish the remaining clubs then run the spades ace and king follow by ace king of hearts hoping opps to discard the spades and keep hearts so i can make a third spade.

Conventions to Learn
jocdelevat replied to awm's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
My intermediate opinion for what a B/I player must know 1. most important count points per team and know the points necesary for game , slam or less level bids. 2. paterns of hands 3.negative and take out doubles 4. stayman, transfer to majors, blackwood I agree with posters that recomends first to know the basic which I still find out that some basic stuff I do not know. I disagree with posters which suggest not to learn more than basic conventions. I think if you learn a convention it is easy after to judge the level of biding and the patern of hand. Extra of this you'll play better defense if you know what opps tallk about. For exemple I do not know polish club and precision I know a bit when I play against opps with this system I have hard time defending. I like to put in my profile every convention I know and I think is good . Not to show but to let know advance and higher players what I play. -
[hv=d=e&v=e&n=saj5h42d964cakqt4&s=skq98hakt3dacj863]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - Pass 1♣ Pass 2NT Pass 3NT Pass Pass Pass Hi all My level B/I playing SAYC My pard level intermediate with profile:blackwood, gerber, stayman, transfers to majors, weak 2's, 2c strong. My pard was south and I was north.Questions: 1. what you bid after my 2nt? 2.my 2nt bid was corect or not(someone at tbl suggest to bid directly 4nt for aces) 3. what should be the corect biding if we play my pard profile. P.S I find the topic what convetions intermediates should know very intersting so I post this board that I play with an intermediate with limited conventions.

Hi all My level BIL playing SAYC just a simple question: in this auction 1c(or d) pass 1nt what means 1nt in SAYC I usually after my pard open a minor i respond with 6-9 hcp a 4 card major . If I do not have 4 card major I bid the othe minor if in 5 or support the openning minor with 5 cards however I never respond 1nt. I play a lot in indy tourneys and happens more then i expect players(level intermediates and sometimes advanced) to bid 1nt after my openning of a minor . When I see their cards they have 4 card major and sometimes more than 9hcp. Thing is I saw some intermediates bid the same way and I don't not know from where this come or whats the meanning? thank you in advance for your advice
