Hi 1Mullida, Actually you can write on note pad and than saving that file as .lin file on your computer. you can Play in bridgevue of BBO program. In aabridge program you have section where you can see some of the command in text you can learn and write. this is Very handy way to learn. mojila

After writing in Notepad click save as and give file name. At the same time change file type from text to all files. Type name and Dot and extension .lin e.g. Test.lin this will be saved as lin file. you do not have to use Richard's Convertor. :) I do write lin files and make hands movie to learn myself.

Also whether 50 years ago or now, I would say every system evolved and vanished or improved version came in what is mentioned in encyclopedia. Those who say First bid shows only points are wrong. Opening bid is working points+Distribution e.g. 1!S says have total points barring (shortness)18-19 suite will be told later. Responding partner on that knowledge answers Positive if 25-25 condition to fit. if has 7-8 points. if not 25-26 gives negative response. Yes every1-level bid is artificial. "it shows only HCP" is wrong" Total working point shown in opening bid is Point+Distribution so say if opener bid 1!S...say Working point + distribution total is 18-19 points. it does not say that suite is Spade... Suite is revealed later.

Hi Helen.. Thank you will see I am just intermediate player and play SACY, 2/1 .... This was by chance I came across and read. Some Concept are scientifically sound. With First bid To show Total Strength of hand was introduced by Bessel... Culbertson ...(4n,5N) ...and in 1998 Dr. Asghar introduced in UK. Unfortunately many of his writings were on internet only. Steve,Bill I agree with your statements. I recently came across articles regarding Ghestem and Questem(inverted Ghestem). AS two suited hands some time difficult to describe. Also when distribution is unballanced then tricks taking capability is more important than Point counts. Michael as well as UnNorum both are in preemptive in nature and conventional bid. Though one can use with Loaded points. Ghestem and Questem removes the ambiguity of one suite unknown. Describes exactly which two suites holding. It is always problem with pick up partners. Bridge is Partnership game. e.g. 1♦ 2♦ .. ♠and ♥ two highest. 1♦ 2NT ....... ♣ and ♥ two Lowest 1♦ 3♣ .. ♠ and ♣ Highest and Lowest knowing both suites partner can know 8 cards fit. if has 3 cards in known suite.
