  1. Today (5/17), playing hands with the GIBS, i am unable to see scores of others who played the hand if i use Matchpoint as a table option. In the past, i've always been able to see other scores when using Matchpoint. As a test, I changed the table option to IMPs. I was able to see the results for others who played the same hand. I tried setting up a Matchpoint table at different times during the day but still had the same problem. Any idea on what's gone wrong? Thanks Sue
  2. Is there a way to make preset hands off line and then load them into partnership bidding? My partner and I (both beginners) play f2f at a local club. We'd like to review problem hands from our f2f play at BBO Partnership Bidding if there's a way to reproduce those hands using BBO software. Thanks Sue
  3. I hosted a table at BIL. I set the table up for my partner and me playing against the GIBs. Both the UNDO and REDEAL options were not available (toggled off). I could find no way to toggled them on or to select that option when I started the table. Anyone know what i need to do to get those options available? Sue
  4. When I view the traveller after playing a hand, am I seeing scores from only the club where I am playing? For instance, if I'm playing in BIL are the scores on the traveller showing only those played by members at BIL? Or might the traveller show players from other club areas of BBO? Thanks, Sue
  5. Advancing beginner playing a very simple SAYC. I'm always uncertain what to open with a 6-5 distribution. In the following hand, do I open the longer clubs or the spades? I know that if both suits were equal length I'd bid the higher ranking. AQ1098 106 --- A85432 Would the bidding be different with higher point count so I'd be making a reverse? Such as: AK1098 K6 --- AJ5432 Thanks Sue
  6. Thanks....that did the trick. Sue
  7. Been a few weeks since I've been on BBO. Logged on today and something seems amiss. There are 777 tables in use in the main club BUT only 4 tables are displayed for me. I find it hard to believe that 773 tables decided to go "invisible." I don't recall changing any of my settings yet think something's obviously not right. Would appreciate any help. Sue
  8. New to bridge and to SAYC. Play with beginners at local club and on BBO. I understand standard opening bids in a minor -- diamonds if 4/4 and clubs if 3/3 when no 5 card major available and the better minor in a hand such as KJ83 AQ72 874 K4. Problem is, I like the idea of the short club bid -- bidding 1 club instead of the better minor -- since it leaves only the one minor with any possible ambiguity. My beginner husband and I are using this when we play together. I've not gotten any other beginner partners to consider it since they were taught to bid the better minor and uncertain about deviating from that. My question is, other than hoping my partner remembers to alert this short club bid, are there other disadvantages to using it? I wonder if there's problems with the bid I don't realize since it is not the standard bid. Thanks in advance for any help on this beginner topic. Sue
  9. This bridge beginner sat in on a terrific teaching session at BIL by "athene" (William Frisby) on Declarer play. Later, when I tried to open the movie to review the lesson all I had was a blank vugraph screen. I have the chat log but no hands to review. Where'd the hands go? Also, during the session, I could click the screen and view the "lesson txt." But there was no way to save that or to print the "lesson.txt" during the session. Thanks for any help, Sue
  10. Thanks...exactly what I was looking for.... Sue
  11. Is there a way to log the traveler score sheet (or log) along with the movie of the hand played. Might be useful to this beginner when reviewing the movie of hands I've played to see what others bid on the same hand. I can log chat and log the hand but lose the traveler. Sue
  12. North: K J 9 8 6 A K 8 7 5 A K 3 South: A Q 4 7 6 5 A Q 9 2 J 5 4 This bidding problem is from a Frank Stewart bridge column. The bidding question was simple. South "opens one diamond, next player passes. What do you say?" A jump shift of "2 Spades then support the diamonds next" is the answer. He goes on to say that if partner holds a minimum hand such as seen in South above "you can make 7 diamonds." Using SAYC, I'm assuming South would bid 2NT with North supporting Diamonds with a 3 Diamond bid. But after that, I'm don't know how each partner would bid to get to a final contract of 7 Diamonds. Would blackwood be used? Control showing Cue bids? Thanks in advance, SueW
  13. I'm trying to figure out the colors used to highlight players names in lounge and BIL club. I know Grey means the person will be right back. What does RED mean? How 'bout WHITE? Thanks WSue
