Some minutes ago a friend called me and said that at least for the Warshaw event the MULTI 2♦ opening is no exception anymore for Brown Sticker (EBL doesn't allow 2♦ Multi). Does anyone know more? To slam 2: does anybody play 4♣ always as minorwood when bypassing 3NT and/or being unlimited? I do but I am not 100% sure if it is a good agreement (I remember an auction where partner passed, I bid a semiforcing in ♣ and he bid 4♣, meant as minorwood). So: in which cases do you recommend playing 4m as minorwood, where is it just preparing a cuebid sequence?

Exactly.Even if I out myself one more time as idiot: why can I be SURE that a slam (--> 1.) will make (let us simply assume that you DON'T see opener's hand. Double dummy I am able, too, to reach the best contract :rolleyes: ). I was simply scared of loosing a ♠ and a ♦. My doubts were: I have 3 first round controls and a long suit with a tenace, so far so good. IF partner doesn't have the ♠K, is 50% for the finesse enough to bid the slam when she doesn't hold the ♦ and/or ♠K. If they attack ♦, do I still have enough entries to develop the ♠s for ♦ discards? When I count only HCP, we have perhaps less than we need for a cold slam, so it is the distribution which counts. What, if too many values are waisted in ♥? Is a slam on or shall we defend ♥? When I count tricks we have perhaps: 6 in ♣, ♠ + ♦ A, 2-3 ♥ ruffs in dummy = 10-11, so I NEED 2 or 1 more, based on hope or knowledge? That is what I wanted to discuss here :) When I make a "pro" list with arguments for the slam it looks like good trump fit (here in clubs) first round controls long side suit which (might/will) produce the needed missing tricks What did I forget?

Thank you, that was really helpful! We have now decided that it makes no real sense to bid 3m as invitational and changed into GF. (Transfer to a minor is only possible through 2♠ in our system, but then we loose a possible M-fit) At the bidding-table I jumped after 2♠ to 4♦ (I decided before bidding Stayman :)), but I didn't really feel well because much bidding space was wasted. 5♦ had chances while 3NT was definitely down. Another question: how must a hand look like that is slam-interested? Would a 2♦ answer by opener let dreams come up? When 3!D is already forcing: what does a jump to 4!D show? Splinter for the M?

Hi! Today, at the partnership bidding table, this problem arose: partner opened 1NT (15-17) and I looked at ♠ x ♥ KQJx ♦ AQxxxx ♣ xx I decided to bid 2♣ and partner of course bid 2♠. 3NT? A number of ♦? We agreed that bidding Stayman and then (with no M fit) a minor is invitational with 4M + 5m, so 3♦ could have been passed. Is that a good agreement? Thx ;) Caren

Perhaps I am just too stupid, but nevertheless I describe my problem and hope for help: in the meantime we've had so many discussions on everyday-problems that I have hope to find the one or other answer to a current problem in a former thread. Let's take for example the defense to Multi 2♦: I use the assistent and type "defense" and "Multi" and receive a lot of threads, too many which are more or less useless, so that I am tempted to post another topic to a well discussed theme because it is the faster way for me, and that cannot be ok. My question: what is the best way to search on the forum? (I am usually able to find easily and fast in the internet what I am looking for by using relevant keywords, this problem occurs only here :rolleyes: ). Where do I go wrong? How do YOU search here? I don't know why it happens but it does now and then: chatting privately to a friend on BBO but not rechecking, and then *oooooooooops* the absolutely most private words go to the LOBBY. I received for example some serious offers after posting which sort of men I like; remember, aisha? Fortunately more and more people ignore lobby chat nowadays :ph34r: Some years ago I thought I was replying privately to an email of a friend (just clicked on the reply button because I saw the displayed address of the friend in an email which I received through a mailing list) and then sent that email to the whole mailing list :) It took some time to reach the host of the list and ask him to remove that mail. One lady was fast, printed it and gave it others for reading in my local bridge club.
