That either comes from 1C/1S or 2S ,since partner didn't lead a CA/K, 2C tricks is not likely. If you need 1C/1S, return a club/spade at this moment has not much of difference. If you need 2S, return a spade should do the job. Problem is what kind of Spade you think partner posses? If partner has something SA98x, return of SQ yields one more trick. Who should you to blame on this tragedy?

  3. Let's not discuss the bidding and carding method, opinions will be welcomed on suggesting what to return here. Match point scoring Holding KQ76 AT2 5 AQ643 ----------------you (1D) p.(1H) 2C (2D). P (3D). Ap Partner lead C2, High from 2 cards, lowest from 3 cards or 4 cards Dummy J8 KQ954 K82 JT5 You KQ76 AT2 5 AQ643 Assuming you play CA, Déclarer C8, What would you return? A sentence for reasoning would be welcome, thanks
  4. Imp, Nothing special here actually, just some opinion collection. I just hold a little point that 2D opener has bigger chance for four club than four hearts, and responder has it's chance to bid heart but not likely clubs And four cards of club but not five cards of club makes your risk gain ratio increase, thus making a heart lead superior. My little opinion only and this want to collect some others opinion, nothing fancy
  5. VUL vs NV Partner RHO You LHO ---P------2♦----P-------2♠ ---P------2NT---P-------3NT 2♦ = Preemptive Weak two diamonds 2♠= Natural, Forcing 1 round 2NT/3NT = Natural Opponent is not very strong. Preemptive style is undisciplined and tends to be aggressive, Diamonds can vary from 5-6 cards, 4 cards Major is possible. To simplify the issue, assume there's not much difference in which card you lead from individual suit. Which suit is your choice from this hand? J653 Q65 J4 KJ87
  6. Hello everyone, Play 3NT Partner lead a 2 (4th best) Dummy shows a singleton 4 I was being question on why I play J with QJT7 in the third hand and I forget the reason. Anyone could share the reason? It would also be great if anyone can quote the book with this topic Thanks
  7. Thanks Rainer, Can you elaborate more on the given hand, AKX Xxxx Xxx Jxx At which way, at least in psychological prospect that why ducking the first spade could increase the chance that defense goes wrong? I think that's the way to makes the clubs stands out.
  8. Thank you guys, sorry that I am new to this forum and seems I miss one-two pieces of information. 1. We are text- book style open bidder, which means we may or may not open on AAK 4432, but won't open in AAK 4333 2. 2H confirm 4 cards support. And teammate are fairly reasonable, no pressure indeed, :) So, just do what you think right is ok.
