  1. why cant he lead the 3 from 36? or the 6 from 68. i think u are assuming he will always signal hi low.
  2. the 2♣response may well be artificial, it is the cheapest 2/1 call, with the responder knowing the hand is playing in ♥ looking for more information about the opener's hand while telling nothing useful to the defense. all this talk about a double fit is sayc folly. the 2♣ call usually has a ♣suit attached to it but some game going hands with slam interest could bid 2♣/1♥ with fewer than 4 ♣. bid slowly to show strength is the 2/1 mantra, for example 1♥/2♣/2nt is a stronger opening hand than 1/♥/2♣/3nt
  3. this is a 2/1 auction 2♣forces the auction to game. 2♥ definitely establishes ♥ as trump and by bidding 3♣ declarer is exploring for a slam almost certainly holding the ♣ace, by not using fast arrival and jumping to 4♥ declarer is showing extra values or distribution.
  4. 4 level pre-empt on my right with a 3 loser hand bidding 4♠ is way too weak, u are missing slam way to often given that your partner rates to have something, or LHO has the rest of the cards and 5♥ is likely to make anyways
  5. for some reason i cant seem to get the opener to rebid to define the calls. i know i have done this in the past but cant seem to work it out today, can anyone help?
  6. too many players find 8 major suit cards fits and then try to play the hand in 3nt. clearly the original poster plays some form of 'jacoby 3nt' style of bid where 1h/s-3nt shows 3 card support and 14-16 hcp. but the fact of the matter is, partner opened and u have a 5 trick hand, cropping the bidding space has to be the least constructive method i can imagine. to quote truscott....'points smoints'
  7. 3nt? thats awful, i sure hope u arent playing 2/1 and propose a 3nt response!
