Recently I stumbled upon smth like a system, only very simplified. Here it is:: Opening: *1 ♣ - 11-14 hcp, balanced (3-3-3-4, 3-3-4-4,.) *1 ♦ - 11-14 hcp, domination honor power + length in ♠ and one minor suit. *1 ♥ - 11-14 hcp, domination honor power + length in ♥ and one minor suit. *1 ♠ - 11-14 hcp, same, but for the both majors *1 NT - 15-17 hcp, balanced hand. *2 ♣ - 18-21 hcp, balanced hand. *On 2nd and 3rd level for the remainin suits the situation is the same as on 1st level, but with more hcp (i.e. 2nd - 15-18, 3rd - 19-22) Response - of 1 ♣: *1 NT - below 6 hcp * The same rules as for an opener for 1st lvl, but with 8-10 hcp * The same rules as for an opener for 2st lvl, but with 11-14 hcp (i.e. 22-28 hcp in the team) - of 1 NT *pass - below 3 hcp *The same rules as for an opener for 1st lvl, but with 5-8 hcp *The same rules as for an opener for 2nd lvl, but with 9-12 hcp - of 1 ♦, ♥, ♥ *2nd level suit - in case of length in a suit, where the opener has demonstrated strength, 6-9 hcp. *3rd level suit - in case of length in a suit, where the opener has demonstrated strength, 10-13 hcp. Using this the partners should have found their long suit after the reponse (or at least a suit with 7 cards and good honors) and how many hcp does the team have The contract is assigned *from the opener, in case his bid has been ♦,♥ or ♥ *from the responder, in case the opener's bid has been ♣ or NT In case there is an interference from an oponent: *"double" means that the reponder's bid is the same as the interferer's * next level bid - if the bid of the responder is lower suit than the interferer's one The pros and cons: Cons: - I sense this "system" does not cover many situations, and this may often lead to misunderstandings between the partners - there are no rules for assigning a slam game (a blackwood may be added, for ex.) Pros: - It is very simple and can be useful for the "neighbourhood cafe" or some non-pretending players (like me) :D :) Comments?
