My comment about puppet Stayman concerned 3C over 2N and not 2C over 1NT. Opening 1NT with a 5 card major is a matter of preference, style and risk tolerance. 2NT openings are a different situation. There are quite a few instances where opening 2N with a 5-3-3-2 is considerably safer when playing puppet Stayman than opening 2C with 20-21 points and opening 1 of a suit with that 20-21 points has its own issues such as having your 1 bid passed out or over-called leaving you without a reasonable second bid. That said, I do not wish to prolong the discussion and do not plan to reply further.

The robots' bidding system doesn't include puppet Stayman over 2NT openings. This leads to some less than optimal bidding when you are dealt 20-21 high card points with a five card major. The robot system includes Smolen and it should also include puppet Stayman. There are other issues with what the robots do such as jumping to 7 without checking for controls but that's another topic.
