  1. Hi all, I'm sorry if this issue has been addressed before. I searched, but everything I found were old stuff. I sadly think that things will change when this nightmare had gone and can last for some long time. I've been here for a long time and I knew that BBO private and public clubs. I must confess I'm still using the very old interface, sorry, I like it much more. It's a possibility that real games will not be makeable for months. I think people that play chess, go, bridge, etc.... will need to create Virtual clubs supporting the real ones, if they want to see each other at the table. I only use BBO for bridge so I don't know if this feature is already done anywhere. So this are my two cents... IMHO, we will need a place to create a Private Club. BBO/Facebook/Whataspp/Telegram/Whatever I'm not talking about the old "thing" to play on BBO that was always empty. We will need a way to find "Our local club". Lets say you navigate to "Private Clubs/Continent/Country/Region/City/My club Even pepople themselves, could add proper Region/City as needed. So, I think that place need just a panel to watch news.. maybe results, schedules..a virtual-hall. And some way to add/remove administrators and users. So, any TD who can create a tourney, in the regular way, could opt for "It is for that club", and a list is not needed anymore. That would allow to continue with the "new-reality" and there are space to the regular bridge online. Thank you Kind Regards, Leandro Ronderos.
  2. Thank you for your answeres. I know xyz and I like it, but no many people play it. What I want to know is if you start to play and agree to play sayc or 2/1 without further discussions. Then, jumps usually are weak and invitational? Can we consider there is an standard or not? Each one plays in his own way? 1♣ 1♠ 1N 3♠ What do u think about this bid without discussion? Invitational o slamish? 1♣ 1♠ 1n 3♣ Invitational or slamish? Some agree that over 1N rebid, jumps are slamish, other not. I think it should be something considered standard? Maybe, if you play Fast arrival principle, they can be considered invitational because of that? When the opener doesn't rebid 1n, I think there is more consensus about invitational jumps, but not sure if it is considered standard by default. 1♦ 1♠ 2♣ 3♠ I think usually people play it invitational, is it?
  3. What is considered standard? Playing NMF or something similar. a) 1♣ 1♠ 1N 3♠ Standard Sayc-2/1 is 3♠ = Non forcing Invitational with 6♠+ ? :) 1♣ 1♠ 1N 2♦ (NMF) 2N 3♠ Game forcing with 6♠+ ? c) 1♣ 1♠ 1N 3♣ Invitational, non forcing? d) 1♣ 1♥ 1♠ 3♥ Non forcing, Invitational? e) 1♣ 1♥ 1♠ 2♦ (NMF) 2N 3♠ Game forcing? f) 1♣ 1♥ 1n 2♦ (NMF) 2n 3♣ Game forcing? Do you think that the jump rebid over 1N is better as Slam Try rather than invitational and then, after NMF, the 3 rebid as invitational non forcing? Ty in advance.
  4. El mejor club? No tengo ni idea, pero aqui tienes una relacion de clubes de bridge de Madrid con telefonos y direcciones que tal vez te puedan resultar de utilidad. http://www.aebridge.com/aebdynamic/clubesgrid.asp
  5. Playing Standard leads, standar signals. You have to lead from J104 1. You didnt support partner in this suit he overcalled. Lead the J? And what card to show next? Would be the same if opponets are playing suit contract or no trump? 2. You did suport your p. Either opps can be playing suit or no trump contract Lead the J? What next? 3. You lead a free suit. Same or different? Same or different for suit contracts and NT? Thank you

Ty very much helen_t About this: 1.- Failure to use the alert card 2.- Explanations given to opps that contradict what partner intended 1. pass pass 1♠ pass 2♣=drury on convention card. Failure to alert ................ 3♣(natural) pass 4♠ 5♣ (He doesnt understand 4♠ and goes on bidding on clubs) 5♠ pass (He took the message and pass) The result stands even if it is a good one or a bad one, nothing to rule? 2.- Explanations. a.- If the explanation is wrong, then always rule? 1♠ 4♥ alert: splinter 4♠ 5♥ (He has 7 hearts, no spade support) pass 1♠ 4♥ is not defined on cc. One of them plays it as splinter and the other one to play. b.- When the explanation is right but the call is wrong. As you said, nothing to rule if you can wake up your partner, if nothing more is involved. Theese explamples are well? Bergen is on cc Responder forgets bergen and has lots of clubs 1♠ 3♣ alerted as spade raise 3♠ 4♣ 4♠ 5♣ pass (I took the message p, you forgot bergen) Nothing to rule even if the result is good.

helen_t: "dosxtres, it sounds to me as if you don't quite understand the concept of UI." It is. I'm sure I didnt get it yet. And it is because local ruling. This is common topic and td's rule over this example because they say, responder is not allowed to wake up p. This has been from I've started to study for TD i can see the things from the rules directly, but i cannot get when UI is used and have to rule and when there could be UI (correct alert but wrong bid from p, failure to alert, wrong bids and then trying to correct....) but is not used.

Ty for your answeres. Let me explain better. I was asking if 3h could be UI when responder has 5 hearts. 1N 2d They play 2d as transfer. Opener forgot it was transfer and did bid a natural 2n in response of diamonds. It isn't supperaccept or nothing. 1n 2d 2n 3h (not on the system if it is forcing or not) 4h making, with the field. Other case could be, 1n 2d (transfer to hearts, no alert. Alert is required) 2s (He forgot the transfer, has no diamonds so he bids spades. Has 4) .... 3h 3n 4h (responder has 6 hearts)

1n 2d 2n 3h 4h p p If they play 2d as transfer, no alert, 2n not defined anyway but natural. 3h is UI for p, can he bid 4H? So, anything to rule? When UI is envolved, if a begginer is implied, the rules would be different? About if a beginer can or cannot take advantage about something happend at the table.
  10. Thank you for your answeres and sorry. I thought it was about ruling, not only online ruling.
  11. Both face to face 1. diamonds mixed with hearts. 2. Explanation correct. 1S 3C was written on cc. Responder thought he did bid a forcing bid but didnt remember he was playing bergen in that moment.
  12. Case 1 Responder holds: xx x xxxxxx xxxx 1♠ 2♥ (No alert. It should show 5 hearts+ from Convention card) 2♠ 3♦ 3n 4♣ 5♣ 6♣ 6 clubs making. Anything to rule? Case 2 Responder holds: xx K Q AQxxxxxxx 1♠ 3♣ *Alerted as major raise, 6-9 HCP 4♠ 5♣ Convention card confirms 1♠ 3♣ is major raise. 5♠ 6♣ pass 6 clubs making. Anything to rule?
  13. 2♣ and pass is an agreement? Is a system exception that you are not aware on system? I was not playing, but worried about the TD ruled. Myself have no agreement to bid 2♣ on weak hands, so, when I bid 1N an p bids 2♣ I always explain like styman. 1/2 4 card major and 8+HCP. If p passes my bid, now I realized it was the exception and CAN IMAGINE what's going on? Is this part of our system? Do I have to explain all of the circumstances that can arise when my pard can go over the system? OK. The opps were damaged because they passed. That's the issue. They argue they explained as stayman and nobody said nothing about this posibility. Is this stayman or modified stayman? Is it really an agreement?
  14. One rule here says: What ever player can, during his turn of bidding and his turn of play a card in whatever trick, can ask about the meaning of whatever bid, alerted or not and other bids that were really bid or could have been bid. This all can be done if your request are not passing incorrect messages.
  15. In spain, but, I think it should be irrelevant. Think you are playing with me. Our agreement is to play styman promising 8HCP and at least one 4 card major. Nothing more. But If you open 1NT and I have a weak 4441 I'm bidding 2♣. Not an agreement, I'm only choosing the best bid I can find, regardless it is well or not good bridge judment.
