Just a personal prefference. I prefer 1♦ with 15 HCP and HCP concentrated in diamonds and clubs. I dont have much in both majors. I think 1♦ works better, than 1NT.

I don't agree. 4 of clubs is almost certain 4th best. There is no point to lead from 42 to the expected club length in the declarer hand. Playing Robot duplicate tournament I ended in a bad 3 NT contract. East leads a small club, dummy has a singleton king and west has A1053. West does not cover the king with his ace. As you can see the deffenders can take the first five tricks without any problems. If West was a human a missclick might be the case, but it was a robot.
