  1. Thanks all !! I found what I was looking for - either a lot of pro's or a lot of con's - Based on all the cons the convention clearly won't do much use, so I'll try to convince my partner to throw it in the garbage :) We're still not skilled enough to use splinterbids, but in time, the "Couleur" shouldn't stand in the way of introducing them :) But I'd like to hear a little more about Keycard Gerber. What is that. Something like RKC ? Jorgen
  2. Hi all My partner presented me with a convention a couple of days ago, and I'm not sure if its useful or not. I cant find any information on it by googling. Its called Couleur (french for color??) Any jump to 4♣ ask pard to show the color of his aces. 4♦ = 0 aces 4♥ = 1 red 4♠ = 1 black 4NT = 1 red, 1 black 5♣ = 2 black 5♦ = 2 red 5♥ = 2 red, 1 black 5♠ = 2 black, 1 red I supposed it ruins the opportunity to use Gerber. Any thoughts ? Jorgen PS: were both rookies so no cuebids, trelde or any other fancy stuff on our systemcard
  3. Thanks for the responses. But this raises a new question. How do You calculate the % chance for making game ? I suppose if I have 18 p and partner raises my major opening to the 3-level (10-12 points in my system) the chance should be well above 50% but what if I hold lets say 14 p, and my partner shows the same support. What are we talking here 40-50% ? Jorgen
  4. Hi Could someone explain why it is better to bid "close" games in IMP scoring than in MP scoring. I know You can make a good bonus for reaching a game in IMP, and that You should bid games with a mere 40-50% chance for succes. How do You calculate what the odds should be in MP scoring, for bidding game ? Jorgen
  5. Not fast enough on the keyboard I see I think Helene answered the question while I was posting my reply  Thanks !
  6. Hi Michel Thanks for the answer. I suppose I didn't get the question right, though. I don't mean when the opener asks for some sort of support in the new suit, but if he wants to know if the responder has 6-7 pts or 8-9 pts (with spade support of course). Normally a 3 ♥ reply from opener, with no interference from oppenent, would be invitational, but with an interfering bid from the opponent, responder can't be sure if opener wants to invite or just contest for the auction. I hope I got it right this time  Thanks again Jorgen PS: or is there a better way to place an invitational bid ?
  7. 1 ♥ opening bid 2 ♥ reply from partner opponents interfering with 3♣ Opener wants to ask partner if he's good or bad 6-9 with a 3♦/♥ Is there a name for that bid ? (is it called a cuebid, an invitational bid or an interest bid or what) Jorgen
