  1. Your hand seems to have poor def against Ss and likely they would have a shortage in Ds, so likely they’d succeed with a distributional pre-emp response of 4Ss so maybe poor pts but gd length. Only 4 LTC and P obv less than overcall at L2 which could be as many as 10pts which could give you quite a pts advantage (poss 28) it may be worth a 5D bid which may lose but be worth the sacrifice - according to vulnerability. And whether you play Acol or 5cd M might have a bearing I suppose but no doubt you’ve already considered that. Not much help sry - I’m sure you’re prob more advanced than me to do a call like this.
  2. North S: A6. H: A763. D: A87643. C: K South S: K8743. H:K2 D:Q5. C: A873 South to open! I’m a bit of a beginner/improver but struggled with how this should pan out for the best contract. I play Acol I think 3NT wd be gd final bid but what’s the best way to get there and is it really the best bid Thx
  3. First of all thanks for the replies to my last moan. I fully understand where ceci is coming from. Some real help there but ---- why is it you can't chose between being dropped into available seats in relaxed club which is so much more friendly rather than main club, which is often playing to a higher standard, sometimes impatient and ocassionally rude and can just throw you out (which is everyone's prerogative obviously.) Not that anyone wants to swamp the relaxed club but seems to make more sense to me??
  4. I’ve just found your post. I have just written virtually the same thing myself. It can feel overwhelming and intimidating. Trying to find a friendly table can be really hard and you’re right you don’t want to ruin someone else’s game. I’ve posted to BBO to see if they can do something to support us. Prime was supposed to be for us but I feel it’s misused. So we’re left with robots and solitaire. Don’t know what the answer is especially as I don’t have a regular partner. Good luck anyway
  5. Hi as a beginner (no partner) I find it difficult finding games which are at my standard. It’s intimidating getting dropped into main club and casual area as both have advanced players or tables tied. A beginner doesn’t want to ruin games either. They just need practice for the ideas they’ve picked up. What do other beginners feel. Any ideas out there??
