  1. Thanks to everyone for those replies. From the enquiry I received, I suspect a very old iPad. I'll advise accordingly :-)
  2. One of our club members has asked a question on behalf of a couple of his friends about what the IT requirements are to play BBO. I've tried searching on the BBO Help pages but have failed to find anything. Please would someone point me to something I can share which explains the minimum requirements (Operating System version and where appropriate, supported browsers) both for playing BBO in a browser and for downloading and installing the relevant BBO app? Ideally, this would cover Windows, Android and iOS, both phones and tablets/iPads? Many thanks in anticipation. Chris Woodhouse, Derbyshire, UK
  3. I will be running a so-called "Gentle Bridge" tournament at my club for new players, mimicking a slow and relaxed session we used to run before COVID lockdown. We allow players to ask for help from an experienced player so the length of time for each board might be a bit elastic. This, in turn, means we may not have finished all the boards we planned by the time we get to the agreed end time for the tournament. Is there a way of finishing the tournament early, causing boards to be marked as unplayed as appropriate? Thanks in advance, Chris
  4. OK - thanks for the swift reply. At least we know :)
  5. Sorry, I only just spotted this reply. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll probably to use a variant of this. I'm going to TD these sessions and I'll keep track of pleas for help. We don't get huge volumes so we'll have one "Mycroft" and I'll know whether or not s/he's free.
  6. I use the old BBO interface to run tournaments. My understanding is TDs need to do use BBO v2 because running a tournament uses Flash and BBO v3 has been written without Flash. All the browsers I use which support Flash state they will cease to do so after December 2020. Does anyone know if BBO is working on migrating the function of running a tournament to BBO v3? And if so, are they likely to complete the work by December 2020? Thanks in anticipation, Chris
  7. Running a "gentle bridge" tournament for our club, two of us co-direct. My friend sets pre-dealt hands. We would like to be able to look after the tournament has been set up but before it starts to check what hands have been assigned. I can't see a way of doing this. Does anyone know if it is possible? Does it make a difference between using hands from my friend's or my BBO Deal Archive or uploaded from LIN/PBN format? Thanks in anticipation, Chris
  8. I was looking for something like this and it seems like a good resource. However, the Pairs page holds not quite 48 hours of hands. Is it possible to go further back? Thanks, Chris
  9. I'd like to be able to share a folder of hands from my Deal Archive with another BBO user, but I can't see how to achieve this. Does anyone know if it is possible, and if so, how to achieve it? Thanks in anticipation, Chris
  10. When someone sends me a hand, I'd like to be able to save it to my Deal Archive, but I can't see how to achieve it. Is it possible to do this? Thanks in advance, Chris
  11. Pre-pandemic, my club ran a "Gentle Bridge" session - relaxed atmosphere duplicate for relative beginners. One feature was that players could ask for help and one of the two very experienced players who look after the session would go to the table and answer a direct question or offer help, as appropriate. We are working out how to translate this experience to BBO. There are several options with one of them being the text chat within BBO. We envisage the tutor joining the table as a kibitzer and we know that would work. We're wondering if it's possible for the tutor to be at all tables simultaneously so s/he would already be at any table that called her/him. It's possible, of course, that this is heavily over-engineered as an idea and it may be straightforward for the tutor just to wait for a call (by text chat or perhaps via a TD call which gets relayed to the tutor) and then join the requisite table. Does anyone have any experience of this sort of arrangement, especially using the kibitz feature to implement it? Thanks in anticipation.
