  1. You can do nothing. Total points cannot show your side holding all-suits first round control. Stephen Tu's post(#2) is the answer. ---- A bit off-topic: if EW Pass, what will you bid when (1) 1♦ - 1♠ - 2♠ (2) 1♦ - 1♠ - 1NT (3) 1♦ - 1♠ - 2♦ you may find some ideas when North bid support double in this case.
  2. If you often open 1♠ with South's hand in the 1st/2nd seat, you must no doubt in using Jacoby 2NT when you find super-fit in partner's opening 1♠. What about if ♣KQ change to ♣KX, do you open 1♠? and does it reasonable to use Jacoby 2NT for super-fit trump? The difference is I seldom open with this ugly 11HCP AND 8LTC, that's why i refuse to use Jacoby 2NT but other way to explore. In South's view the key point is to find North holding at least 3 cards♣ or no duplicate HCP in black suits (♠Q and ♣A). Opponent may interference at 3 level if has long suit even you bid GF bid, and South must PASS at 5-level, because has (probably) 1♣ trick only. ==== Extra for possible North's hand(14HCP or less) ♠KQXXX ♥KXX ♦AJXX ♣X - 4♠ down when ♥ opening lead ♠KQXXX ♥KXXX ♦JX ♣AX - 4♠ down ♠KQXXX ♥AKXX ♦QX ♣XX - 4♠ make depends on ♥ break ♠KQXXX ♥XX ♦KJX ♣AXX - 4♠ make when ♦A on-side ==== (edit) If only 2 options from Jacoby 2NT or 4♠, I choose 4♠.
  3. Far away for Jacoby 2NT, and 4♠ may go down. I would choose 1NT or 2♠: 1NT(no matter forcing or not), waiting North or opponent's bid, although is underrated. 2♠, ♣KQ deduct value, fall to simple raise. Maybe the final contract is 3NT. ==== Consider 4♠ directly if ♥ is doubleton or less.
  4. a) North 1♠ is acceptable but 1NT is much better after West's Dbl. If no ♠Q, i will Pass. b) South 2♣ is fine, seeking 8 cards ♥ contract. After 2♣-Dbl, North Pass will describe the hand as: 4-2-4-3/4-1-4-4, and extreme minimum HCP. No 5+ cards♦ : otherwise bid 2/3♦; No 3 cards♥ : otherwise bid 2/3♥; No 4 cards♣ : otherwise may bid 3♣, but rare; and NO ♣ stopper : otherwise bid 2NT. c) I bid 3NT. South knows no 8 cards ♠ and ♥ and no short suit(no ruffing power in 4 Majors), holding ♣A prevents defender running ♣, South also is opening hand (13HCP, 7.5 NLTC), enough to go 3NT.
  5. Hand 1: I voted expert. Hand 2: ♥Q does not drop, your last step is ♠ loser ruffed. Win ♦ lead, ♥AK, ♠4 to A, minor back to hand; defend side can win ♥Q anytime, but ♠T can ruff by ♥J. I voted intermediate. Hand 3:You have 6♥, ♠A and ♣A, you need 2 more: 2♣ or 1♣♦ There are 3 routes to make the contract: East holds ♣K - finesse; the one holds ♣KXX/KX/K; mark West has ♣K - ruffing finesse If East holds ♣K, finesse Q, A, ruff, ♥A, ruff with high, clear trump and ♣T. If the one holds ♣KXX, ♣A, ♣ ruff, ♥A, ruff ♣, clear trump and ♣QT. (edit after Stephen post) ruffing finesse West ♣K, clear trump, ♣T discard 1♠, exit ♦ and ♦Q the 10th trick. No matter which route, tackle ♣ before trump(entry for ruffing/cash ♣). ** I voted advanced. **: What about clear trump after finesse ♣K? East can duck, and you have no entry to cash ♣.
  6. Forcing, continue describe your hand. Since cue-bid opener suit, then one more meaning if you have (half)stopper in that suit, you may bid NT. In this case you can bid 3NT and make the contract with no doubt. Other suit showing Control(Ace or void/singleton), if nothing, rebid your first bid suit.
  7. This is a typical Dbl hand - short in opponent bid suit, at least 3+cards in unbid suits (old style?). Even without ♣K, it's (become) 15HCP, 5 controls and 5 losers hand, strong hand(in suit contract). (1)You can treat the bare ♣K as a small♣, and no doubt to bid 2♦ if partner bid 1♥ even Pass. T's 9's is a "+" condition to reach game level, but in this stage you still exploring. Let's partner bid something. (2)If you hold long♦, say 6cards, 1♦ may a good option. Even as weak as ♠Jxxx ♥xx ♦AJxxxx ♣Q. For this hand, 1♦ seems too weak and may no rooms to show ♠KQxx
  8. NS have 8 tricks and seeking ♠Q to make the contract. East 2♥ bid assume holds long ♥, so planning to endplay East. ♥A, 4 diamonds ending in hand(South) and ♥K. If West discards from ♥K, dummy discard S6 otherwise C3 (That means East hold 7 cards ♥) If West follow from ♥K and East discard ♥ only(when cashing diamonds) (That means East hold 5-6 cards ♥), play ♣A and ♣4 hope East hold both ♣KQ. No matter East takes ♥ tricks, East needs to exit ♣ (3-3 break) or ♠ to AQ. If West follow from ♥K and East discard black suit, play ♠A and ♠6 to hope East reamins ♠Kx. If all fail, the last chance is when West take a ♣ and exit ♠, finesses Q to make or down 2. 3NT always make when East hold ♣KQ(x), and down if East holds 4-x-x-2/3-x-x-3 and ♣KQ split. ====== I would rather to take +300(defense 2♥X-2) than +600(3NT=)
