  1. I agree with you..I signed up in same tournament and found a partner from South America from the partner desk..it became obvious imm he could not speak much english but could play well..I said sayc no answeer but we played first round Ok pretty standard..so I realised he played sayc.. he never said anything but the TD who I might add was PLAYING as well as screaming to announce every round ...in third round I opened a S and my p bid 3S ..I bid 4S thinking was limit bid but when dummy came down the opp called the TD who yelled across whole tourney..whats the problem and NAME of offenders..I continued to play buyt by end of hand I realised my p had been BOOTEd and replaced..I thought that VERY RUDE..ALL open tournies should have a director or two NOT playing but being there to monitor all the beginners and NON English speaking people..How can you call it a club when its an OPEN tourney open to EVERY one regardless of skill..and have 0 director available. Its so annoyng to listen ALL 14 boards to a player (TD) screaming all night and yelling at players then booting them...I will never ever again play in that tourney ..BUT I definetly think OPEN tournies should not be called clubs and should have a working director available at all times, the rest of players are there to play not listen to all the LOUD public yelling
  2. Roland I have seen a number of BBO stars that have novice or beginner in their profile. I always wondered why BBO gives stars to novices? Are they also joking around then thats STUPID dont you think? If BBO awarded them a star they should act apropritely..
  3. You are praising someone for (1) not understanding the Laws, (2) booting someone for an honest answer, and (3) being gutsy enough to do all this without a qualm of conscience? If you take this approach to the natural extreme, it means that anyone can do anything they want, as long as they are 'gutsy' about it. Backing up "her own self-imposed zero tolerance policy" does not make the policy correct, legal, or moral -- it merely makes it imposed. I have seen many bad rules made in the abalucy bridge club [uday: remainder of rant removed ]
  4. Hi Nick, neither photo opens;-(( Can you try and re do Thanks
  5. What has this got to do with B-L??? I thought this thread about The Italians not Amrican GNT's?? Am I missing something?
  6. Oh ..lol u are way behind theres 16 pages about them already;-))
  7. American IDOL is bad, no talent at all. I watched a couple of episodes of ROCK star INXS, wow here you can see REAL talent, it makes Bo BICE look bad..very very bad. If you want real music tune in Tuesdays to Rock Star INXS ..theres good music, BUT dont stop off first and listen before hand to Candian idol it will put you off music for life
  8. I have heard that also, the coughing at various times was most prominant in the Cavendish..
  9. Haha At first this would seem to be unbelievable but in USA we may let suspected serial murders and pedophiles for many years do their deeds and not watch them or stop them from doing their thing why should bridge be any different. The world stood by while millions were killed in Africa or the Killing Fields of Asia or the Balkans for years, why not bridge? Look at Dafur now. Even now, no one knows what really happened? Or what will happen? your quote. YES...maybe a lot of bets were made on this pair and lots of money made. I cant believe they were allowed to play in Cavensish unless BIG money changed hands. And you thought only horse racing was fixed;-)) I am sure we will see them playing again as I havent heard of them being banned just suspended in Teneriffe...IF all players refused to play against them they wouldnt be able to play. Those hundreds applauding the committees decision, did any of them refuse to play against them, I wonder.
  10. Hurry back Justin . AND Good luck in Australia
  11. MY question to everyone...if ACBL were suspicious for so long, needed to have a recorder monitor therir every bid and play WHY WERE THEY ALLOWED TO CONTINUALLY PLAY TOGETHER? And was the recorder in Tenerife watching? As I hear it the players were alone in the room. Will they EVER be allowed to play together AGAIN for any country or sponsor? One more very important question will they be stripped of their Cavendish and Vandebilt victories?
  12. However, I do think they got the end right and, for whatever its worth, all of the leading players I have spoken with (including several Italians) believe that this pair (finally) got what they deserved in Tenerife. I agree with you .as there has been lots of talk over the last 5 or 6 years about this pair..It was suspicious after playing and doing well for Italy in the mid to late 90's why they ran away to Spain and played for Spain's national team.. I hope they do crawl into a hole and never come out..
  13. :o I think the committee has done a wonderful job. If there is suspicion of cheating at least suspend them until all the evidence against them is properly gone over. It takes months in a court for a case to be resolved, but to let them continue to play with everyone spectulating whether they cheating or not is NOT good for them or the sport. hopefully when the comittee has all the evidence it will CLEAR them OR find them guilty, we should not speculate as we also dont have ALL the facts. So in my humble opinion suspending them teparily is the best thing for all.Lets all wait and see when all decisions are made public, I'm ure then too so will all evidence or lack there of..
