  1. Hello, I would definitely pass first time and second time. First time - hoping that partner would reopen with double (even 1 down with double would be better than struggling to make 1NT). Second time: p bid 2 ♦ (nonforcing bid), in the best of cases he can have 6 card ♦ and 14 ponts. I really cannot see what we can make other then 3 ♦ maybe. Kind regards, Irina
  2. Hello, I would very much appreciate your opinions about how to bid with this hand: [hv=d=s&v=b&s=skxhq10xxxxdcaxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I am the dealer. Should I pass is my first question (I did in the tourney). My LHO passed, my p bid 1D, my RHO interfered with 1S, I doubled because I was afraid that if I bid 2H after I passed first, my p is going to pass. My LHO passed, my p bid 2S. What shall I do now? Bid 2NT showing my stopper in S or presuming it is a game forcing, bid 4H directly? Thank you very much. Kind regards, Irina
  3. Hello, I would very much appreciate your help about the following hand: ♠KQ86♥AJ♦Q98♣Q1072 IMPs Tournament, nobody is vulnerable. In second position you open 1♣, PASS, partner bids 1♦, 2♥ from the opponent. What would be the best (if anything) to rebid? Thanks a lot. Irina
  4. Hello, I am sorry to ask such may be stupid question, but I tried to find a similar example and I did not succeed. Because we (me and my bridge partner) have had a lot of arguments about it I will be very grateful if you help me clarify the issue. In the sequence: 1S-(2H)-3C (non-passed hand), where 2H is an overcall from the opponent, is 3C a forcing bid or not? Is it a matter of partnership agreement or the system you play? And for that matter, in the sequence: 1D-(Double)-1S - is 1S a forcing bid or to play and how many cards in spade it promises? These seem to be 2 principal issues in which I and my partner do not agree and I manage to ruin every tourney by applying just the opposite of what my partner expects from me. Thank you for your kind attention. Best regards, Irina irincheto@yahoo.com PS We play SAYC.
  5. That is what I was talking about. I agree that after all it is a matter of TDs' choice whether do allow or disallow kibitzers, no matter that I am against disallowing in general. But the TD is the person in charge of the tornament and he/she decides what he/she prefers. I was objecting against throwing away kibitzers in the middle of a tourney. And it happened to me again yesterday, the tourney was exactly in the middle - 6 boards out of 12 when all of a sudden all kibitzers were out. It was like the TD enjoyed some cruel pleasure of doing so ;) . I do not really believe that was the case, but I felt helpless and disappointed.
  6. No, I cannot see why. If some TDs are afraid of cheating, disallowing kibitzers will not help, I am afraid. Nevertheless, I agree when kibitzers are disallowed at the beginning of the tourney and nobody hopes to enjoy watching good bridge. I think you can learn a lot only by watching good players play the boards. But I really feel very disappointed when I am thrown away as a kibitzer in the middle of a tourney without any explanation at least. Is that so much to ask? Irina
