  1. The opponents were bidding ,not an established partnership, no bidding by our side... Opening -1S, 2 H,3H 3S, pass... A trick or two was played and the 2 H bidder asked for a redeal(she is learning 2/1 system and asked if H were agreed trump suit, said that she was bidding a control by biddindg 3 s... she held the AQ10 of spades.. Request was refused,, The question is , is H the agreed trump suit? Her partner assumed she was raising the S suit, and passed..... (Which -in 2/1 - the 2 H was GF.) ( I had 5 S in my hand-there was not a slam, as she had thought.)
  2. Another good site to look at daily is www.bridgeclues.com It has an opening page with discussion, and then under BIDDING and PLAY, there are two lessons under each level- Novices/beginners, Level l, which is standard bidding, and level 2 which is 2/1 bidding.... New lessons each day. Good to make a shortcut on your desktop .
  3. The ACBL.org website has good LEARN TO PLAY BRIDGE -- free lessons. Also , a good site to refer to for novice/ beginners is Karen's bridge library, and www.bridgeguys.com if you need to look up these topics, or learn how to bid them. Also, lessons are generally good if you belong (or join)BIL- which means Beginners/Intermediate Lounge. They have free lessons at various times, as do IAC club, which stands for Intermediate/ advanced club . These are both Private clubs, where you can play with your own level, not any experts.... IAC does not charge to belong. They will teach you the most used bidding methods.
  4. Last evening I was playing against a new player in BBO(2 days) , who happens to be my friend... Her parter had quit, and the new partner called her a stupid idiot, and said she needed to have "beginner" on her card... I took a screen shot and sent it to abuse@bridgebaseonline as the directions told me, but it came back... Why is that information posted, if it doesn't work. How do I report this?
  5. What is the recommended bid for this hand: S--- H AKJ94 AJ7643 C-76 1 opened 1D, planning to reverse, partner bid 1 S, I bid 2 H, and partner bid 3 NT-based on my reverse bid. (-2)I had 5 loser hand.Should I have rebid H at the 4 level? It made 4 H. Partner held S-KQ74 H-1086 D-102 C KJ98
  6. My friend ,who just tried BBO today, tells me that her screen is tall and narrow, and she can't see the information at the bottom, to chat, etc. and the cards are very tiny-hard to see. What could be the problem?
  7. I need to mark a person who is rarely online, as friend. How do I do that?
  8. Is there a way to show "friend" or "enemy" when choosing a partner for tourneys?? Inadvertently, I have asked someone to be my partner, when there was no way to tell that I have him listed as enemy-mostly for bad bidding/play?
  9. 1 S, 2 nt in direct seat~~~~~~ 2 nt shows 2 lower unbid suits. 1 S, P, P , 2 nt does this have the same meaning? One teacher on BBO says it is a real 2 NT hand with 19-21 points, since a balancing NT is 11=14, , a double and then NT is a normal 1 nt with15-17, so 2 NT must be more than that-18-21. Does anyone play it that way?
  10. S AQ764 H-QJ9763 D-Q C 8 Would you open this hand? Bidding has been P-P-? Would you open in any seat? Which suit to bid? and why.
  11. What is the proper way to transfer with 5- 5 in both major suits, and game count? I thought that you transfer to S and then bid H to show 5 of each.
  12. Playing Standard American: Partner bid 1 H, I bid 2 D.(showing 10+.) Partner jumped to 3 H. Is this wasting bidding space? I contend that my 2 D promises another bid, and he could have bid 2 H and described his hand with his next bid, as his 2 H would also be forcing, as I MUST make another call.
