  1. Update: I emailed BBO support and got this reply today Thank you for contacting BBO. We want to inform you that after reviewed your report, we find out that the cause is related to an expired root certificate used by our SSL service. A root SSL certificate error occurs when a web browser can’t verify the certificate installed on a site. Rather than connect you, your browser will display an error message, warning you that the site may be insecure/not accessible. This might happened if you are using an old operative system or device. In order to access normally to BBO (or to any other site where you see these type of message/error) you can: • Try login from Firefox, • Add bridgebase.com as trusted site under your browser settings • Update your current operative system, In case you have questions about how to perform any of these steps, or in case you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
  2. I cannot get logged in to BBO today, nor can my playing partner who is in a different house and using a Windows computer. We are both getting a message when to try to login which says that BBO cannot open a critical file and to check our internet connection. My internet connection is fine. There seems to be a problem with BBO. I am using an iMac computer and Google chrome. Can anyone please help?
  3. Thanks very much for looking into this. Will check out 'Cotton Candy Pairs'. Strange though that even today BBO is still running ads for Newcomer pairs tourneys .....
  4. I keep seeing ads on BBO for BBO Newcomer pairs tournaments which say they start every hour. But I have searched on Tournaments and cannot find them. I know BBO did run these tournaments a while ago but they seem to have ceased. While they were still running I would have joined in, but unfortunately a lot of experienced players were playing in the tournaments, not just those with fewer than 5 BBO points. If BBO is no longer running the Newcomer tournaments then why are the adverts for them still being shown on BBO? I wish they would start them again, but ensure that only those with less than 5 BBO points can play in them.
  5. Thanks for your reply, that explains it!
  6. I wondered if someone might be able to clarify something for me about scoring on BBO. Sorry if this has been asked before but I cannot find an explanation in the discussion forum. I understand that IMPs compare your result with how other tables played the same hand. But I don't follow how the IMPs result shown in the little box in the top left hand corner of the table differs to the total 'We' and 'They' tally given in yellow in My table in History. This afternoon at a table with friends we used IMPs scoring, and at the end of our 18 boards the IMPs box in the top left of the table showed NS -13.2 EW 13.2. Yet in 'My Table' on the right of the screen, the yellow total at the bottom showed 'We' (i.e. NS) 25.2 and 'They' 20.6. We could not figure out who had won. What do these scores in yellow mean if they are not IMPs? They do not seem to have any correlation with the score in the little IMPs box. And why does the score in the little IMPs box on the top left sometimes change even when you're still playing the hand? Thanks.
  7. My board completion rate has gone down, I always finish a board unless a partner has dropped out eg due to their internet dropping which is rare. I think it might be because I have started having weekly teaching sessions on BBO and sometimes for various reasons the teacher changes the hands dealt so it appears we haven't finished the hand. Could the software separate out teaching hands so that it doesn't affect an individual's completion rate?

  9. Thanks Barmar, I looked again, and you're right there is a link to the discussion forums down at the very bottom of the public BBO homepage, but not on the homepage once you've signed in, so its not immediately apparent to a newbie! Glad to see that there is now a link to the discussion 'Cannot set up a table with people (friends) in the message section on BBO.
  10. I'm also having problems, when I start a table for a casual game with friends I immediately appear offline to my friends and they don't receive the invite to the table. Will try the suggested fix above. Its a pity there isn't any explanation on the BBO homepage as far as I can see. We are new to BBO and I only found this discussion forum website through a google search on BBO problems, its strange there isn't a link to it from the BBO website.
