Can anyone advise on the following problem? I play regularly with the same friends on BBO, we play chicagos and change partners after 3 chicagos so we play 36 hands in total. We don't score overtricks unless doubled so the game proceeds briskly. On Saturday 9 May we played from 10.30 to 14.45. Of the 36 hands we played only 6 were part scores and of the 30 game bids made (83% of the total) all but a handful were unbeatable and swiftly claimable - very boring. Although the hands are apparently dealt at random, the pattern was very different from when we meet and deal in person, when we have competitive bidding and it's often stretchy both for declarer to make the contract and for the defence to beat it. I wonder, was this experience a one off? Is it "normal" for 83% of hands to be games easy to bid and easy to make? I can see that this pattern might be of interest to duplicate players where overtricks are crucial, but sadly it spoils the game for us. Can anything be done about this? Any advice would be gratefully received.
