  1. At least one of the older masters (Marshall Miles) recommends if you have about an A over what you have already shown, you should make a slam try, and if you partner has a K over what they have already shown they should accept. Since responder could have bid 2 H without the club void, i.e. with 2 small, the void control in clubs seems huge to me (and as someone else mentioned, the spades are well placed). I would have no problems bidding 5C. Also I can't imagine a world where 2H is not forcing.
  2. I have seen the robots get confused by Lebensohl before, but this one is pretty bad. #49 ACBL Robot Duplicate (12 Boards) - IMPs Hand 8. I wasn't able to save the hand but this should be enough information to find it. Player DBarbour. 2 Passes, my left hand opponent bids 2 Spades, weak two. I hold 7 Clubs to AKQJ, Singleton A Heart, Kx Spades, Qxx Diamonds. Opposite the right hand, it easily makes slam. Partner robot bids 2NT with a balanced hand, A of Diamonds and A Spades. Just about the right hand to make slam. But now the computer has gotten lost and thinks its 2NT bid was Lebensohl. I clicked on the 2NT bid and that is what it said. It now thinks it has a long weak diamond suit and asks me to bid 3 Clubs so it can transfer to 3 Diamonds. I would bid Clubs anyway, so I bid 3 Clubs, Robot bids 3 Diamonds (4 to the A). I correct to 5 Clubs. Robot bids 5 Diamonds. I strongly suggest the fix is to remove Lebensohl from the robot's memory. Its not that useful a convention and it is especially harmful with the wrong hand types, which it is when the robot gets confused. I don't remember what happened the last time I got into this hole, but I think it was pretty bad. Have others had this issue with Lebensohl? Thanks, David Barbour (DBarbour)
  3. I've been learning Precision. Would anyone here be willing to practice with me? Thanks, David
  4. Thanks, It is up to Version 15, and claims to play a sophisticated Precision Club, as well as a simple version. Should be good for learning the system at least. Does anyone else know of other options? Thanks, David
  5. I first played Precision 50 years ago and did well with it. Then I dropped out of serious play for 50 years, just started up again a couple of months ago. I'm hoping there is some software that I can practice Precision with, rather than annoy a partner when trying to learn. It appears to be the kind of system that a software could emulate easily. Does anyone here know of such a program, or somewhere online to learn? Thanks in advance. David Barbour (DBarbour in BBO)
  6. I just looked for the Precision Players Club in BBO, and I couldn't find it. Does it still exist? Thanks, David
