  1. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sjhj3daq7543ct863]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Partner opens a 5 card major 1♥ (strong NT), 2♥ spades and another on your right.....3♦ is forcing....up to you.
  2. I actually played this hand against Zia and have a nice brag, in a way :). RHO opened 1♦, I bid 1♠, Zia bid 2♥ and partner bid 3♠. I thought about just punting slam but it's not really my style (is it better with hands like this?) and I could have been cold for grand conceivably, so I kicked off with 5♥. Zia bid 6♥ and partner contributed 6♠. Zia backed in with a double. I thought about letting it go but Zia was unfavourable, plus I thought he was too much of a man to run like a girl after doubling. It would be a bit of a story if he got "done" by someone redoubling, plus it obviously helped that he clearly thought we were pissing around. Plus, making a slam redoubled against Zia is quite a nice story ! Anyway, he kicked off with the uninspired singleton club lead and unfortunately that was only 12 :). At another table, they bid 7♥ over 6♠, which got doubled, and the player on lead unadvisedly decided partner's double was lightner and plonked a diamond on the table, so in rolled 7HX.
  3. I agree too. 1♥ is just automatic :)
  4. I'm glad noone's voted for 2/3♠ lol
  5. You do only have 4. And if partner has a heart fit, then he/she can use stayman..
  6. I would definitely bid 2NT. If they can cash spades, then so be it...it's not always the case that they lead spades from Qx, say, and they might be blocked on a good day.
  7. :(, just hoping someone will advocate something other than double :)
  8. Wtf, if partner only has 4 hearts, then he's a complete fish imo...I'm also going to try 6H.
  9. I would definitely double...some people don't like it with a 4333 and only 3 hearts but you can't afford to pass in my opinion. 1NT would be my clear second choice and I wouldn't ever do anything else..
  10. Well X tends to be a reasonable hand if partner's going to have to rebid 2NT on a weak NT. I would tend to play 3♣ as forcing to game, not sure of right strain yet, so responder could choose to do what he or she felt best.. If I had both majors and game forcing I might well rebid 4♣. If I had a massive hand with both majors, I might bid 3♣ and then 4♣ over partner's 3M bid.. If I had a weak hand and both majors, I would tend to bid 2M (unless I have a good shape, for instance)
  11. Pass, nothing else is even close I'm afraid :)

    Wtp?

As you probably guessed, I passed. Partner had JTxx Kx T9xx Kxx so 3NT is an easy make (well you could theoretically go off if LHO leads a low heart from Axx, you get the guess wrong and then he unblocks DK under the ace but whatever)... 1NT+3 does score better than 2D admittedly though. It's all very well saying that it's weird to not downgrade then pass 2D later but you are allowed to downgrade your hand based on the bidding and I could just see 3NT going down several if partner bids 3NT with Kx clubs. I think I prefer 2NT to 3C but even then the clubs don't have to be both with LHO and even if they are and he underleads, there's no guarentee of having anyway near 9 tricks.

    Wtp?

Not a huge fan of downgrading 18 counts with 5 card suits tbf

    Wtp?

[hv=d=s&v=n&s=sakqhjxxdajxxxcqj]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You deal and open 1♦ which shows 4, LHO overcalls 2♣ and partner bids 2♦, your go...
  15. [hv=d=e&s=sj9843hqxxdkqxct9]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 1♣ on your right, you bid 1♠, LHO doubles and partner bids 4♠. Rho bids 5♣ and LHO bids 6♣. What's your lead?
  16. Sorry this is a very simple question but does everyone play an auction such as 1S-2C-2H-2S as guarenteeing 3 card support?
  17. Hang on, sorry I thought I had the stiff K in their suit.....er obvio bid game. And yeh, obvio 4S now as ruffing clubs in partner's hand anyway....

    What now?

5H for sure. This hand was crying out for a 3 ♣ fit jump or 4♣ fit jump if you play that....
  19. Ok, well at the table it goes 1♣-(1♦)-1♥-2♦ to you. So 5♣ then presumably.
