  1. Yeh, I'm a passive trump lead as well. Ace of spades could have been right to give a ruff but if that's the case I stand a chance of two tricks there, with my DQ and ♥ not breaking.
  2. Sorry bluecalm, I was being an idiot. Ignore my easy safety play claims...I feel like Fermat But what you say makes sense

    Defend 3N

I would duck. There's a chance partner has another ♣ and if he doesn't there's a reasonable chance we couldn't beat it anyway or that being active and switching to a ♥ gives the contract.
  4. Must admit I would bid 3♦ on the first, and 2♣ then 2♠ on the second...
  5. Tbh, it's obvious how you can make the rest and obvious how you can safety play it. Up to you at the table how much you trust clubs to be breaking. I can't tell that sitting here knowing that your opponents are middling-good. My instinct would just to be assume they'd messed up but obviously could be right to safety play it. I mean maybe RHO has a stiff trump so doesn't even consider that you are running the rest, so I guess I would do what Fluffy did.
  6. I'm definitely not doubling. RHO is presumably 5-5, 4S or pass for me and I probably pass. Wish I'd shown some values previously...
  7. Double...are all these problems love all?
  8. 2♣ normal on the hand given. Tbh, I would hope that my partner would bid 3♥ if he had 5...I mean I have shown real ♥, I don't class my double as penalties and it's MPs so I'm definitely not passing.
  9. Tricky hand I guess. At IMPs I would bid stayman and then 3NT. I guess I could bid 3C, natural and invitational and give up on hearts. Yeh, let's go for that.
  10. This is MPs again I assume? No, this hasn't really gone according to plan :(. I double tbh, partner doesn't have to pass...rate to beat it.
  11. Tbh I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that declarer thought 4♥ denied a ♦ control, and hence 4♠ showed one...so it's possible partner has the ♦K
  12. Think I would have played a ♦ back to be honest...not a very convincing auction...declarer might have a ruffing ♣ finesse to take, or a ♠ finesse so not going to harm his entries... Would definitely have doubled rather than second-guessing and hoping that partner leads the right thing. Maybe it's quite sensible not to...but if I was on lead I wouldn't be thinking that smartly and just led the suit you didn't double :P.
  13. Pass!!!!! I have 5 trumps for crying out loud. Partner might even have one....not close either.
  14. Well given I have a stiff spade, I am expecting 22(54) or 2155 or so. Between 4 and 5♦. Opps haven't bid overly agressively which suggests things might be breaking for us. Stick me down for 5♦ at teams, might be right at pairs as well...yeh go on, I'll bid it at mps as well.
  15. Yeh west has a clear double of 2♥ and if North still bid 3♥ (which they genuinely might not), I suppose East could double that...might be resulting though...but surely that seems reasonable, extras, not masses of defence but if partner passes, how bad can it be.
  16. Well I thought this looked pretty easy and thought, ace of spades + 4 rounds of clubs d finesse, then a low heart and RHO is endplayed but I suppose they can just play a diamond and you only have 11 tricks. But you can just cash one club, ace of spades, then play a low heart? Now if East plays a diamond you still have your club entry and easily have 12 tricks. And anything else would give you an extra entry to dummy anyway so I suppose that is it, right?
  17. 2♠ as constructive NF is fine. Not necessarily looking to improve the part score but merely happy to play higher with a fit. Obviously if you have Qx support and a maximum in terms of HCP, you have to raise to at least 3S. But obviously south should have bid 3S...
  18. Hi I have heard about a bridge festival in the Azores from 1-5 October, or something along those lines....does anyone have any info / know anything about it? Or have a link to where I might find more information? Thanks, Ed
  19. Hi My partner and I are playing transfer responses to 1♣, and playing 1m-1M-2NT as these 6/3 or 5/4 hands with support for responder's major. But we have some pretty rubbish continuations....does anyone know of any nice ones? Thanks, ewj
  20. well this thread is the same hand as http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=40146 we should probably have lost the match as the other table bid 3♦ on the responding hand but for some reason the opener merely bid 5♦... feels like transfers after michaels are quite a nice idea

  22. [hv=d=e&v=n&s=satxhakqtxdkxxxcx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 1♥ from you in 2nd seat, 2♥ (spades and another) on your left and RHO bids 4♠....your go
  23. Ok, suppose LHO now bids 4♠ and it comes back to you...you pass this out presumably?
