  1. [hv=d=n&v=n&w=skj54h93d72cak653&e=sqt763h8daqj865c7]266|100|Scoring: IMP 1♥-2♥-p-2♠ 3♥-4♦-4♥-4♠ 5♥-p-p-X all pass - down 1[/hv] North opened 1♥. I bid 2♥ and followed up with 4♦. Neither knew partners style, but the agreement on Micheals was: Not vul you have less than an opener, Vul you need more values. Partner told me he dont need to be 5-5 to Micheals. I generally like to be 5-5, but never got around to tell partner. What do you think of the bidding?
  2. Thanks all. I played with Steen, 20+ years of experience, a good player and a pleasant partner. Our team finished a bit above average. Steen and I ranked as 4th best pair in the multi. Results were online even before I got home http://www.bridge.dk/4200/Klub1/Turneringe...Stilling60.html DCA, MUD, attitude primary signal. We agreed to a total five(!) convs: Stayman, Jacoby Transfer, 1430, Michaels and XY-NT(= two-way). Even with this simple system Steen managed to forget XY-NT in one of the first boards B) [hv=d=n&s=skq9xxhjdkxcqjxx]133|100|1♣ 1♠ 1NT 2♣* all pass :D *two way: xfer to ♦ planning to bid 2♠ invit[/hv] Was I wrong to show this hand as invitational ?
  3. Tomorrow I will be playing 5 team matches of 12 boards each, with a partner I have never played with before. We will have 5-10 minuttes max to agree systems. What would you say is most important to discuss and agree on? Which misunderstandings and disasters can be avoided with quick agreements?
  4. Cant handle 4-0 in clubs I think, so I run my minors ending with ♠AQ ♥T in dummy. If the ♥T is good, cool, else I flip a coin whether to finesse or drop in spades :D
  5. Thanks for answers. The hand was played at 14 tables last night. A flight 4 -1010 1 1 -1520 -4 B flight 3 -1010 2 2 -1510 -3 C flight 3 -510 1 1 -1520 -3 I think most auctions started 1♥ 1♠ Playing wjs 2♦ 3♣ 4th suit forcing
  6. [hv=d=s&n=saq98xxhqjxdxcakx&s=skjhakxxxdaktxcxx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] Why are these hands difficult to bid with a normal no fancy stuff BI bidding system ? (opps silent). Looking at both hands its easy to count 15 from top, but at a local tourn 6♥ was the most played contract!
  7. Dummy AQT54 Declarer 8732 You have entries in both hands and no risk of ruffs. How do you play this combination: 1) Best chance for 5 tricks, say in a pairs tournament 2) When you only need 4 tricks, say in a team game where 4 tricks secures the contract I think I know the answers but my intuition was dead wrong
  8. I like undisciplined weak two's, but not second seat vul vs not. I remember a hand where Sabine Auken opened a weak 2 second hand vul vs not: xx KQJT9xx xx xx (might have been 7321, dont recall)
  9. Sorry, the bidding diagram was wrong. It was east who doubled 3NT. Declarer ducked two rounds of spades and made sure she won 9.
  10. [hv=d=n&v=n&n=s6hqjtdk76ckq9732&w=sq98543h52dt83c65&e=skt2ha74dqj5cjt84&s=saj7hk9863da942ca]399|300|Scoring: MP 1♣-p-1♥-2♠ p-p-3NT-p p-X-p lead ♠5 [/hv] We are E/W at matchpoints against a pair where we are heavy underdogs. 3NT X made 9 for 550, when the field was making 480(450) i hearts. The 2♠ bid got them in the wrong contract, the X reversed the result :) Comments please
  11. Yes, thats whats the winning declarer did. The other ruffed and got overruffed and then probably finessed diamonds the wrong way.
  12. [hv=d=s&v=b&n=s986hq5dat8cjt652&s=sakq7432h963dkj6c]133|200|Scoring: IMP 1♠-2♥-2♠-p 4♠-ppp[/hv] Lead is ♥A, then ♥K and ♥7, RHO played the ♥4 and ♥2 On the vugraph team match bidding and play was similar at both tables but only one declarer made it. Plan the play and beat the expert!
  13. I am with vuroth on the diamonds. RHO has ♦8 or ♦T8. LHO probably has the ♥A, though I guess he could have ♦AQJTxx ♣QJ and ♥Q. I have 5 ♠s + 2 ♣s + 1 ♦ and can get 1 more by ruffing twice in hand, so I need to find 1 more. If ♦s are 6-1 I dont see it. Say duck ♦Q, duck next♦ and ruff in hand. Then I can drop a club on ♦K and ruff a club, but then I will have to play the ♥ myself... If ♦'s are 5-2 I can use ♦K at trick two, draw trumps while ruffing 2♦'s and play 3 rounds of ♣'s and hope they have to play to ruff and sluff or open ♥'s Or I could just duck ♦'s to save the ♦K and play RHO for ♥A :-)
  14. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=saqt87hdxxcajxxxx&w=s43hqtxdakjxxct98&e=sxhk8xxxxdq9xckqx&s=skjxxxhaj97dtxxc7]399|300|Scoring: IMP p-p-1♠-2♥ 4♠-X [/hv] I doubled. 3 doubled overtricks on the ♥ lead. Yuck. After the hand the table was somewhat puzzled why I doubled. I argued that I would do it again...
  15. [hv=v=n&s=s43hqt8dakj72ct98]133|100|Scoring: XIMP p-p-1♠-2♥ 4♠-?[/hv] Local club XIMP, 4 tables. Opps are not particulary agressive openers in third hand. Partner overcalled 2♥. What to bid?
  16. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=s9hakqdakt864ck83]133|100|Scoring: XIMP 1♦-p-1♥-3♠ ?[/hv]1♦ showed 4+(4 card majors, 15-17NT). No agreements or gadgets now. What to bid?
  17. No need to use hidden imho. I asked to get answers from A/E and to learn from them. What do you think LHO has for his vul against not 3♥?
  18. [hv=d=e&v=e&s=sajt4hdkjt965ct96]133|100|Scoring: IMP p - p - 1♥* - p 2♥-X -3♥** - X p - ? * can be four ** preemptive[/hv] 16 board swiss teams, they are vul, we are not, LHO is a good player. You are south and make a takeout X as a passed hand. Partners X is penalty. Pass or bid on? Is this a wtp? What if partner was dealer and a passed hand?
  19. Pass. Not good enough for a vul 2♦. I would not consider a takeout x with a void in an unbid suit.
  20. [hv=d=s&n=sk92h86542da5c654&s=saqjt43haqdj6ca93]133|200|Contract 4♠. Lead club[/hv] You can finesse the queen of hearts for a 50% chance. Can you do better? Merry Christmas everyone and thanks to all posters of the BI forum. I do enjoy reading here.
  21. [hv=n=sk53hk932daj62c94&w=sq92h86dk97ckt752&e=st8haqt75d854cj63&s=saj764hj4dqt3caq8]399|300|[/hv] I led back ♥7 where declarer dropped a club. Partner lead a club back and declarer took a spade hook into partners Q and went down one.
  22. [hv=d=s&n=sk53hk932daj62c94&e=st8haqt75d854cj63]266|200|1♠ 2♦ 2NT 4♠ partner leads ♥8 ♥8,2,Q,4 ♥A,J,6,3[/hv] What do you play at trick 3 and why?
  23. No, we have no agreement on 4 card overcalls. I is very rare that I do it, and partner was surprised I only had 4. I allready apologized to her for critizing her bid!
  24. [hv=d=l&v=b&n=s9xxhxdxxxcaqjt9x&s=sak8xhk8xxda8c8xx]133|200|Scoring: MP p - p - 1♥-1♠ 2♥-2♠- p - p 3♥-3♠- p - p X - p p p [/hv] RHO opened 1♥ in third and I overcalled 1♠ with a 4 bagger. Partner put me in 3♠ and we had a little discussion who was to blame for minus 200. (3♥ is down). What do you say? Btw are you a 3♣ opener i 2nd?
