  1. In Mike Lorence book I read Pierson Count rule to determine if you should open on 4th: If follow this rule, we have to pass. But...
  2. Just pass. I know, my favorite partner will collect 10 tricks and complain we missed another cold game, but no bid for now. ;)
  3. Splinter is the best, but I would be scared to bid it now if situation is undiscussed. Partner could have different ideas about meaning of 4 ♣ bid here. In IMPs 5♦ looks like a clear cut, but it is matchpoints. I don't think bidding on the other tables will go to the same way. Negative dbl often promise something in ♣ and it will not everyone's choice. Hard to imagine that happened, but I am not ready to bid 5♦ - probabbly the final bid. Do we have any special agreements about 3♦ and 4♦ bids? If not I would try 3♦. Risky, but... Probably Partner will not pass now and give some usefull information.
  4. You open 1♦, partner reply 1NT. What are you gonna bid? Pass? Doesn't look good for me. 2♦? Bye-bye ♠. 2♠? Revers?
  5. I agree with first pass of W. Not because it is only 10 PC, but because I do not have a good opening bid+rebid. I can't open 1♦ - because it deny 5-cards major. I can't open 1♠ - because after very possable 2♥ reply from the partner I'll be forsed to bid suicidal 2♠. I am not happy with pass of E, but I can't blame him for it. It is acceptable bid. 2 ♠ from W on third round -ridiculous. Redbl, 3♦, 2♦ even pass, even 3NT (in IMPs) is much better.
  6. This hand should not be too difficult for permanent partnership, but next to impossable for accidental partners. As soon as we get to FG auction, have agreed suit and start to look for a slam we can start control bids. I like 3♠ bid, but I would treat it as a control bid (Ace or King or singl or void) with agreed ♥, not as a natural spades support. Now Partner should answer 3NT to show ♥K (if you have such an agreement) or bid 4♥ to deny any minor suit controls (if you do not have 3NT cue-bid to show one of the top trump's). Anyway in one or two bid you or your partner will see absence of ♣ control and stop in game became obvious.

  8. 3♠ - "Partner I wish to play 4♥ and willing to sacrifice on a fifth level. Up to you."

  10. Afraid I don't know what is standard too good. :( Too much difference with previouse answer. 1♦-(2♣)-2♠: forcing (with regular partner non-forsing ) 1♠-2♦-2♠: nonforcing (with regular partner forsing ) 1♠-2♦-2NT: non-forcing 1♠-2♦-3♦: non-forcing (with regular partner forsing ) 1♠-2♦-2♥-2♠: forcing 1♠-2♦-2♥-3♠: non-forcing (invitational) 1♦-1♠-2♣-3♠: forsing (with regular partner invitational) 1NT-2♥-2♠-3♣: non-forcing (with regular partner forsing round) 1NT-2♣-2♥-3♣: invitational
  11. Totally agree. But look how funny is TD reasoning: Accident partner in an individual tournament choose bid to protect Partner. They didn't have any agreements, didn't have any common expirience. Partner just thought and choose safest bid. Director forbid him to do it. Meaning: Playing in INDI with that particular director you do not have right to think what is going on.
  12. 3♦ I accept my partner invitation, and do not mind him to bid 3NT with something like: ♠ Kxx ♥ xxxx ♦ Kxx ♣ Axx 3♦ is not too strong, because I didn't dbl on the first round.
  13. Probably North was complaining, because he didn't know too much about bridge and even less about bridge rules and ethics. It is not a problem. He, probably, was not pretending to be an expert on bridge rules. But director does. Noblesse oblige. And his ruling is far beyond believable. I know just a few people here. But I already know two who stop playing BBO tornaments after adjasting like this. Problem is if player just starts to play on BBO, and meet TD like this, he doesn't know this TD is unlucky exception.
  14. What would be my first pass after rdbl? Did my 1 ♦ promise something or just deny points? If we have any agreement I'll pass, if have none run.
  15. Just to clean up. There are a lot of different Polish Club approach's and just one of them. Another approach, for example, 12-14 balanced, 11+ with clubs or 18 - 24 balanced and probably, 1♠ didn't promise too much. I believe West tried to be helpful and answered question as he understud it. Probably he got this lesson and next time will answer "no information" - most common answer which I receive on BBO. South complain looks like a typical "double shot" - "I know answer is incorrect, but I will not ask for future description and will dbl. If it will go wrong I can complain do director." (Could he really beleive common Polish club system (It is Indy, opps can't have spesific system) can fave such a wierd oppenind 10-11 PC. I'll not buy it.)
  16. You right, it was BBOITALY
  17. 1. I would prefer dbl, because I want still have minors in the picture, but it is close choice. 2. I expecting to find opening hand with spades and no club's stoper. It should not denied support for ♥, but I don't think it is promised. 3. 4♦, what else? ----------------------- If partner will reply 4 ♠ it should be control bid with agreed ♦. But I do have a rebid problem now. Make a prey and bid 6♦.
  18. Actually this hand has some sad story. Probably for another discussion - that one (http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=6806). It was one of the last boards and I was really need a good score to win a tournament. I openned 1♥. Not everyones choice, but, as we can see from this poll, I am not just one who chose it. If Partner has ♥ support my hand much better than it looks now, if he has good spades - too. If Partner doesn't have majors, he, probably, will not jump too high. Bidding follows: dbl - 1NT - 4♠ - pass - pass - dbl. Third best contract (my Partner had Kx spades), unlucky distribution, very average declarer play - down 3. 800. Top? - Not! Ave- assigned by director, who explained me, I must pass with 7 points or less.
  19. All vul. Indi ♠ AQ105 ♥ J85432 ♦ 102 ♣ 7 What would you bid after two passes?
