  1. Thanks. Yes, it is frustrating! and confusing.
  2. I have a lin file with boards numbered 7 to 12, with appropriate dealers and vulnerabilities. These look as expected in my deal archive and when I use them at a teaching table. However, when I use them in a team match, board 7 is displayed as board 1 with North as dealer and all non-vulnerable. Is there any way of getting the match to use the boards correctly? Many thanks
  3. Thanks. That's good news, for me, at least!
  4. I see that a Howell can be set up for 3 and more tables. Can it be set up for just 2 tables? I was thinking of using the set up for teaching purposes, as it has the +breakX+ facility to allow discussion of boards - especially if set to 1 board per round. Having the teachers as co-directors allows them to watch and comment on each table, and to chat to both at once. Thanks.
  5. Tonight somebody's partner was late, so they paid for a robot and the tournament started. Later on, their partner logged in but our attempts to replace the robot with their intended partner failed. An invitation was offered and accepted. But then there was an error message - didn't manage to note the number. Was this because the robot had been paid for? Or just a random occurrence? Thanks
  6. The audible warning when a player becomes disconnected is excellent. Very often they are back in their seat before I could even look at their table, which is also excellent. One improvement would be to have a (preferably settable) delay of so many seconds that, if the player is re-seated in that time then no call is issued. How easy would it be to link up the bits of code in the software to do this?
  7. Different partner each round. Nice with 4 tables, 15 one-board rounds. Everyone partners everybody else, and never meet the same pair. Worked really well. Best if everyone plays the same system - reduces confusion and time - so perhaps with a group of improvers who have been taught the same system. Or Christmas party with a few glasses of wine.
  8. I know that if I use an include list, the tournament runs with whatever the list was at the time it was created. So, if I change the list, I have to do a (true) modification of the tournament. Is that the same when I include players followed by host? If I add friends after creating the tournament, do I need to modify the tournament so that it picks up the additions? Or does it just check the friends when someone tries to register? Thanks
  9. Rather than minutes per board, would a closer mimic of face-to-face play be gained by not allowing the final board of a round to be started if there is less than a (selectable) number of minutes left in the round? It should be even possible to decide which pair used up most of the time, to decide on a 60/40, or 40/40, rather than a 50/50 award.
  10. I might only get one or two director calls in a tournament. So it is easy to be distracted and not notice it. Is there a way of making the computer give a warning sound when a call is made? Thanks
  11. 1. Does the newly introduced robot substitution allow robots to replace sitouts if the tournament starts with a half table? 2. Is there a charge for robots used in substitutions? Many thanks David
  12. Please could someone explain the movement BBO uses if I set up an individual tournament? My searches have failed to come up with an answer. For example, if I had eight individual entries and played 7 two board rounds, would a player partner each of the other 7 players in turn? Thanks
  13. Happy Easter! Two related questions please: 1. In the entries section of Create Tournament, the first option reads "Maximum n ..." on my screen. Presumably maximum number. But is this players, pairs or tables? 2. Can I adjust this number right up to the start of the tournament, even if people have registered to play? I'm trying to avoid a tournament (using an include list) starting with sitouts. It occurred to me that I can tell everyone to register by 10 minutes before the scheduled start. Then, if I had 11 1/2 tables, I could set the maximum to 11 tables and let BBO exclude one of the pairs automatically. Would this work? Many thanks David
  14. I found a solution to my problem. Using Windows 10, I was using right click to copy the text - but right click would not work in the BBO chat space for me to find a paste option. However, <ctrl>v does work, pasting it in as required. There may be other ways - but one is enough!
  15. Thanks, Gordon. I'll do a little more exploring and try the Flash version, although BBO describe that as obsolete. There's so much to do at the beginning of a tournament, especially if you find you have a half table, that I was hoping cut and paste would lighten the load. David
  16. I have tried having various phrases - such as "Welcome to the tournament" - sitting side-by-side in a text file so that I can cut and paste them into the tournament chat. But the cut and paste doesn't seem to work. Is this because I'm not doing something right, or is it just not possible? Many thanks David
