  1. Hi. I play Keri with my pd and we would bid it like this: 1NT 2♣ 2♥ 2NT 3♦ 3♥ 3NT 4♣ 4♥ 4NT 5♦ 5♠ 6♣ 7♦ 2♣ is a puppet to 2♦, 2♥ shows minimum with a 5 card suit. 2NT asks for the doubleton and sets a GF. afterwards, bidding is fairly natural with cuebids and RKC (I prefer RKC to exclusion here since, having all of the other KC's, there is no abiguity and the SA might get us to 7NT). I bid 7♦ since I can't find out about the ♥J and I might need a ruff to set up the ♥, I would then only have 12 tricks but, where there is 12, there is 13 ;)
  2. Hi: I'd play the ♣9. If it gets the K, I have 3 ♣ tricks (finessing), 2♦, 2♠ and 2♥. If LHO unkindly has the J, I win in dummy and play a ♣ to my hand. From here on in, I try to get as much information as possible before playing ♦. RHO should have the ♣ K for his switch to the 4. He must duck to avoid giving me 3 tricks. I win in hand and play a ♥. I should now be well positioned to count the hand and decide either to endplay RHO or play for the ♠ break.
  3. Hi. Here is how we would bid it with my partner: 1♠ limited to 15 pts, 5 card majors. 1NT (GF) 2♠ 1-suited hand, not maximum 3♣ (nat) 4♥ splinter 4NT rkc 5 ♦ 0 or 3 7♣ I can see that partner has xxxxxx x Axx AKx . without any other card, 7 only needs hearts 4-3 (if they lead a trump). Partner wouldn't splinter with the above hand since it is a dead minimum, so he must have extras somewhere, either in length or strength. Give him xxxxxx x Ax AKx (still quite minimum) and now 7 makes with spades 2-2 and trumps 3-1 as well.
  4. Hi all: It seems obvious to me to pass. If partner has only 2 spades, he will make an effort to compete. W is in a very good position to double 3C if it turns out to be the wrong choice. I ran it through dealmaster and simulated 100 possible hands and found that, whenever 3C was right, we would get there anyways if we passed.
