  1. I'd never seen this bug before. But it is alive and well. Just a moment ago... Similar auction with GIB passing a 100% forcing bid (game try). First seat, vul vs non vul, ROBOT opens 1C with: A, 7632, Q10642, AK9 I bid 1H, Robot bids 2H, I bid 2S (forcing)... and Robot passes. This is an obvious glitch. GIB itself shows it as a forcing bid. It's pretty straightforward to program a robot to NEVER pass what it characterizes as a forcing bid. It's ridiculous this has been going on so long. First mention here that I saw was 2013. Should be an easy fix.
  2. I keep seeing GIB, on defense, playing second-hand high, for no discernable reason. It just cost us defeating a contract for the second time in the last few days. Just wondering what the reasoning is of the software???
  3. It seems like the GIB refers to "the Law" sometimes, but then doesn't act on it when it's obvious, such as in this example: http://tinyurl.com/y4vlrrtm Especially in IMPs/vulnerable, as it was, I don't know a human alive that wouldn't automatically bid 4S as North automatically. What happened here? Any thoughts?
  4. I have noticed this a few times now over the past week or so that I've been playing in robot tournaments. When I bid multiple suits, asking GIB to show a preference, they haven't gone with the suit we have the best fit in - which doesn't make any sense to me. A few days ago, it was something as simple as 1S(me)-1NT(GIB)-2D(me) and he put me back in spades despite having 4 diamonds and only 2 spades. The one today was a bit more convoluted, but still didn't make sense to me. Hopefully, I've attached it here... http://tinyurl.com/yyxdszra When I looked at the explanation under my bidding, GIB has me shown correctly as 5-0-4-4, but then he shows preference for diamonds (despite having 3D and 4C?!?), so that we go down in 5D as opposed to making 5C. I don't understand this at all.
  5. I'm relatively new to BBO and its bots, but I agree 100% with Steve. This is my biggest complaint about GIB bidding - punishing partner for a balancing bid. Balancing with 2S in this case promises nothing extra, it's just being competitive at the 2-level. There are other forcing bids I could make, like 3D. Or, I could've redoubled the initial double. I really can't take this one - it makes me play less because it's a no win. There's no way I should have to be uncompetitive and defend 2D because I sense GIB will go nuts. I mean, jumping to 4S?!? No (real, functional) partner does this in real life in all my years of playing... ever.
  6. Yeah, this is awful. I mean, RHO is doubling 2C almost entirely for a club lead! And then you march right into 3NT... and live to tell your story, making 5 for a top, I'd hope! :D
