how do you figure 3s is making? heart out and spade return play the hand.

very close call between pass and 4 clubs. I lean to 4 clubs. Why? because I go by general rule never lay down an 8 card suit in dummy. I don't think either contract is making but in clubs this hand is pulling some weight, in spades this hand gets 1 trick (a diamond ruff)against competent D. Oh and if pard bids 4d I will correct to 4s.

The auction went off rails with the 3c bid. 2D is a reverse showing 4+ diamonds and longer clubs than diamonds with 17+ points. It also guarantees a third bid by opener so almost game force. Without any partnership agreements, the rebid by responder should be 2 spades showing 5 (knowing that this cannot be passed out)and awaiting openers further clarification (do they have 3 spades?) so to find right game. Slam is probably not in works as if pard has 3 spades then only stiff heart so queen is worthless and if not 3 spades then spade honors are degraded and only working for 3nt.

1NT - 2C - 2H - 3NT only question is opening bid the hand is not good enough to open 1 club and reverse to 2 hearts, and while some people have issues about opening 1nt with 2 doubletons,with honors in both of them this is a minor deviation and I think a smaller lie than opening 1c (you will never recover to tell partnew your hand strength)
