  1. Hi, today I was playing a Robot Tournament (5$). The bidding was: 1S (me) - 3D (opp) - 3S (he) - p 4D (me) - p - 4H (he) - p 4NT (me) - p - 5D (he) - X I passed this and GIB passed it, too.... I was not sure how he would interpret my pass but I was sure he would not pass it... Obviously, I was wrong... At least slam was down due to JT9x - x break in Spade.... But 1100 was costing me 4 $ Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann
  2. Hi, GIB held: 105 AQJ9762 53 107 I opened first hand 1 NT VUL. Opp (GIB) overcalled with 2S (S+m), and GIB now found the 2 NT bid to make a drop to 3 H :) 7 HCP in a 7 card suit after 1 NT opening from PD is a drop? :) Btw: I opened a 14 count with the bare King of Hearts and he still made 4 H :) (Good, the opp bid 3S after his 3H drop, so he decided to revalue his hand to 4H) Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann

Hi, GIB just passed my 2♣-answer on a 1♦-opening with: J9 AQ6 K1064 Q752 I was not passed hand :) How is this possible? Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann
  4. Hi, often when I'm trying to show a strong hand with X and a new suit, the GIB doesn't see it as a strong hand or sees it as a strong hand but still as a strong takeout double. Example 1: (2H)-p-(3H)-X (p)-4C-(p)-4S = 20+ Points, biddable Spades - right (p)-6D*-(p)-6S *: 5+ D, 4+ C??? But had 6C+4D (p)-7C-passout Of course, DA was missing. Example 2: (2S)-X-(3S)-p (p)-4H-(p)-5D passout GIB hold: J97 84 109862 AD2 I don't need to tell you, 4 Hearts are making without any problems and 5 D are down 2, although I had - coincidentally - AQx-Support I think the same problem exists more or less after a 1level-double, too.. But have no hand I remember :P Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann
  5. Hi all, for one day I have a new screen for my computer... Now I'm using the display resolution of 1920*1080. That's very good for all programs - but BBO! BBO takes only approx 1/2 of the Screen - and the font, cards, etc. in bbo are now very small :-( Of course, switching to a much lower display resolution like 1024*768 will solve the problem, but then all other programms are much too big... A friend of mine told me the same problem with his notebook, but he's having only 1280*800. But of course, his screen is much smaller than mine... In general he's working with his normal computer with 1680*945, but that's impossible if you use bbo... Is there a possibilty to make BBO able to get along with higher display resolutions? Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann
  6. Hi all, NEWS: THE WORLD JUNIOR PAIRS WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IN GERMANY BECAUSE THE EBL WANTS TO START ON WEDNESDAY (if I remember right), but we only have the accommondations and rooms to play from thursday on... So probably the world junior pairs will TAKE PLACE IN POLAND Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  7. i don't know why I shd punish my pd for a good balancing double, so a clear pass for me at imps, in matchpoints I would look at my left and then decide to pass or double, but I prefer pass
  8. if you play bridge and don't gamble for fun, it's 20 boards...
  9. Hartmut Kondoch, organisator of the Junior World Championship in Frankfurt, wrote the Junior World Championships will probably (he explained it as "almost sure") taking place from 10th of July till 13th of July and he's interested in organizing a Camp afterwards, but that's not for sure. Neither the WBF nor the EBL are interested in it but it is possible if it is organised by germany. But the Camp can only take place if there are at least 150 Juniors/Schools players who are interested in it. So please do me the favour and if you are interested in it, write me please a privat message or message me in BBO (my nickname is 400 Volt). So we can see if there exits some interest or not enough. Of course, your message is not binding. Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  10. Hi Gerben, what is your source? I was convinced the date would be one week earlier... But maybe I'm wrong... As I know, it is planned to make a Junior Camp afterwards, but I'm not sure if they will do now or not. Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  11. only my position in some words: I think it's necessary to get a rating system; but it should be a extensive one so it scores other when you play with a player which rating is very good against 2 players with a very bad rating, etc. Concerning to the words someone wrote earlier: The BBO system is NOT ok, because you can't trust more than 50 % of the players in BBO if they entered something in their skill. I'm not a racist, but 90 % of the turkish experts e.g. play like beginners/intermediates. If you want to play good bridge and write "experts pls" i mostly don't accept those "turkish experts" (often you can doubt it reading their profil... they play transfers and all this difficult stuff) but I often get opponents, who are not approximately expert and that's frustrating me. I don't want to kick them later (it's impolite, too) but I don't want to play against those beginners and I don't want to change the table every 10 minutes. If I don't want to play against experts it doesn't mind, but if I want, it does mind. And if I play an individual tournament and my partner wrote expert and can't even lead the Q from QJT it is not much fun - cause you EXPECT something other. If there would be a beginner in profile, it would be all fine. And for the rating: I'd not do individuals in the rating; it's only gambling. Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  12. you need an established partnership? I don't think so, you just should change the meaning of your opening bids: 2 Club strong? When did you need it in a goulash tournament? And, you need a similar "common sense", but what else? nothing  goulash hands are always guessing; if you're good at guessing it's great, if not, it's bad; that's what you're doing
  13. Hi! I'd like to ask, why the "Swiss"-Tournament is called "Swiss"-Tournament, although it isn't a real "Swiss"-Tournament: One of the main requirements for a real "Swiss"-Tournament is, that you never play against the same opponent as in any round before. But in the Swiss-Tournaments on BBO you do. I agree that you, as you do in the swiss-tournament, play against opps, who are approximately as strong as you, but you play against them another time, if they stay approximately as strong as you are. That's not a kind of Swiss-System, but Danish system. That's why I'm often asked as TD, if it's right to play against the same opps, especially when they already play against the same opps in the 2nd round (I usually play with 10-20 tables). At the end of the tournament, 8 Rounds, some players come and ask how it can be possible to play against the same opps, and not only 2 times but 3 times in a swiss tournament. Tought by them, that Swiss-System means not to play against the same opps, i have only to say it's bbo and I cannot change it  So I'd like to publish and denunciate that the Swiss-System is not a Swiss-System but Danish system and the denotation "Swiss" is only misleading. So why did you call it like that? Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  14. or just that you can cancel it at host immediately, when you entered something wrong or so ;)) Or to make able a 3-Tables-Teammatch :P Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann. (400 Volt / Mork)
  15. in my mind a good idea. Especially new players forget it and are astonished that I don't answer them... Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  16. In my mind a good idea or maybe a filter, which does exclude Name: Private, E-Mail: Private, etc.... would be nice ;-) Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  17. very useful to let bid them 1 ♥, 1♠, etc. when I'd like to have an intervention of 2♣ or something like that... and when I don't everytime have an 8card+ fit in the suit opp bid... So why not just for the EW-hand the same scheme as for the NS hands? Or allow to allow have 4 players at bidding-table? (ok, we can go in the mainbridgeclub and claim in 1st trick, delcine the claim, claim by the other side, decline it to see the board and after it to redeal.. but if that's good?) Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann. P.s.: By the way, for me as pupil, i cannot afford that...
  18. Hi all! When I'm practicing with my partner in the bidding challenge, we like our opps to make rational overcalls. I don't everytime have got a friend who can host a table to see all cards for a good bidding - and not everytime the RHO or LHO has got an overcall available. So for practicing several auctions we need opponents who have their biddings, so it should be possible, that you could - not only for NS - enter available handtypes for EW, too. Would be very good and in my mind a very good advancement for the bidding challenge ;-) Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  19. I know that you see it, when it's over, thanks, but if you want to see it during play? If you play 15 Boards in the evening it's possible you don't feel to wait till the other players - even in a unclocked tournament - finally finished their games. And in the Mainbridgeclub you can see the results of the other tables immediately, too. You needn't go then to bbo/myhands... But - especially as TD - it would be more useful if you can see all results and all "not results", so A-, too, wouldn't it? Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann.
  20. Hi all! I wonder why in a tournament you never see a score-card, although you see your percentage. But it's for interest, what the other tables played, isn't it? Especially for TDs would it be some easement when you can look at the score-card and see the a-s, wouldn't it? Sincerely Yours, Felix Zimmermann. (MorK)
  21. i agree to al_u_card... you know they don't have so much points, so the only chance for opps will be some cross ruffing. so i would start with a small Spade :-) and to lead with that holding is not the best alternative - but when partner bids it :) when LHO bid that suit, i would lead it, too... Sincerely Yours, MorK
  22. I did not read the whole thread, so maybe, you're already talking about anything else here :D but: I think you have to explain your bids. I consider the tables in BBO as tables which have "very good screens". Some days ago in a tournament, I asked the opps about a bid... My left opponent, who was bidding, said: ask my partner and the partner responded: i need not explain it, because it is not alerted. Yes, it is not alerted but in screens I may also ask for bids are natural, because natural bids can have a remarkable strength. So I called TD, who agreed to my opponents... That's why, I do not play anymore in this tournament of this TD. I can only advise you to play tournaments and stop going to tournaments where the TD agrees to that behaviour :) MorK
  23. I learned: 1 ♣ - 2 ♣ = 4+ ♣, 10+ P 1 ♣ - 3 ♣ = 5+ ♣, 10+ P the same in ♦ but sometimes i play 1 ♣ - 2 ♣ = 4+ ♣, 10+ P 1 ♣ - 2 ♦ = 5+ ♣, 6-9 P 1 ♣ - 3 ♣ = 5+ ♣, 0-5 P 1 ♦ - 2 ♦ = 4+ ♦, 10+ 1 ♦ - 3 ♣ = 5+ ♦, 6-9 P 1 ♦ - 3 ♦ = 5+ ♦, 0-5 P on 1 ♣ - 2 ♣ / 1 ♦ - 2 ♦ you bid stops and on 1 ♣ - 2 ♦ / 1 ♦ - 3 ♣ the opener asks for stop in any suit. MorK
  24. yes, that's right - but very stupid, because if you look then, nobody recognizes anymore the "new result" :-) MorK
  25. I already said it: Mostly, I'm playing director and can not go to any table, so i have no advantage if i know the tables :-) I only need the names and write every name down who does not finish any board is very annoying. Yes, i have to remember one name, but there are at least 2 partnerships (or 4 individual players) who maybe played slow so i have to write them down, too, if i like to know who already played slow in any other round. But for adjustments, I already do it, but sometimes, i'm also slow, i already said (in case of adjustments for the last round or difficult game or slow opps or bad connection or so), and have no time for write them down.
