  1. MUCH Nicer than the BBO DD feature - thanks!! Frank
  2. With the support of many players in my local COBA (Central Ohio Bridge Association) group, I created an experimental tournament to see if we could start our own 'Invitational' tournament. At the last minute (literally) I discovered that my carefully constructed 'Include' list wasn't being honored by the BBO software, and many COBA members were not able to register -they received the 'Blocked...' message from BBO. As a workaround I was forced to open the tournament up to anyone, which resulted in players from all over the world flooding in and rapidly filling up my very small (40) player limit. Moreover, these new players didn't understand that the tournament was an experimental first effort, and one of them took umbrage at my poor (actually non-existent, as I didn't know what I was doing on this first effort) TD skills and CANCELLED THE TOURNAMENT, even though it wasn't his/her tournament to start with. In addition, I no longer have the 'Director' tab on my account, so [this person] must have done this as well. Since this happened, I have emailed support@bbo.com repeatedly to explain the situation and get ourselves going again, all to no avail. In the meantime, our central Ohio bridge community is left with no way to play, except in the EBU tournament or in the ridiculously over-subscribed ACBL Support your club tournament (which maxes out within a few minutes of opening). Anyone out there know how a random BBO user can cancel someone else's tournament, and how I might get Director privileges back so I can help our 100+ online COBA members play bridge again? TIA, Frank
  3. brand-new TD, On my first (somewhat disastrous) try at running a BBO tournament, I laboriously typed in 40+ BBO usernames into the game's Include List, all of which got wiped out when the tournament was cancelled by an angry TD from Romania (still don't know how/why that happened!). So now I'll have to recreate the entire Include List again for my second try, which is going to be a real PITA. Is there any way to upload a list of BBO usernames from a file for this purpose? TIA, Frank
  4. I'm brand new to BBO TD'ing. I set up my first experimental tournament and tried to restrict it to an "Include List" I created using BBO usernames for my local area (Central Ohio Bridge Association, COBA). Unfortunately, as the time for the tournament got closer, I started getting reports that players could not register (getting the "Blocked...." message) even though I could clearly see their names on the Include List. Any idea what I was doing wrong here? TIA, Frank
  5. For several years now, the two commercial clubs here in Columbus Ohio both use a program I created to facilitate easy distribution of game results to a website or an email list. However, the club managers have recently been having trouble dealing with the .DUP files generated by ACBL for Stac games, as the naming convention is quite different than the YYMMDD[M/A/E].* convention they have been using for game files. Anyone know how ACBL Stac file names are constructed? For instance, one from (I think) early last year has the filename 1901082_FriMorn.DUP However, when I look on a calendar, I find that 8 Jan 2019 is a Tuesday, not a Friday, so I don't think the '190108' part is your typical 6-digit YYMMDD preamble. When I look at the 'FriMorn' part, I see from the calendar that Fridays in January are 04, 11, 18, & 25 Anyone have a clue on this? TIA, Frank
  6. Paul, I'm a recent convert to Dan Neill's SMP version of Precision, and I'm interested in your offer of forming a partnership, both online and RL. I have about 700MP and have been playing 2/1 for some time now, but have been trying to learn SMP for about the last 6 month. I'm retired, and would also be interested in RL tournament play. If you aren't already booked up, please contact me at 'paynterf[at]gmail[dot]com' Regards, Frank
